Tuning in Irish stations?

    Hi everyone,

First of all I'd like to apologize for the stupidity in this post.
This question has probably been asked and answered. I've tried a quick search, and found helpful replies, but I'm not sure if they are still relevant, so that's why I'm asking again. I know how frustrating it can be for an idiot to come in and start asking stuff that yous are sick to death of answering.

Anyway I'm staying with my folks and leaving tomorrow, they've asked my to tune in their sky box.

A simple yes/no will suffice, that's all I'm asking for.

Okay so they have a sky+ box, but cancelled their multi-room subscription.

    So just to confirm.

    1. All I have to do is follow the ** UPDATED ** UK FTA TUNING GUIDE - BBC/ITV/C4/C5/HD & MORE! guide in order to obtain British channels. I don't need any special cards or anything? right?

    2. is it possible to tune in the irish stations? rte 1,2, & tv3?

    Thanks,

The Irish channels are encrypted and can only be viewed as part the Sky package.

    Nothing has changed.

For your second Sky box (or more) that were on the multi-room subscription remove the viewing card, power off at the mains and power on again. The UK EPG should be there instead of the RoI one. You can't tune in the Irish stations as they are subscription channels.

One thing you can continue to receive however is the Aertel teletext service. Store, say, RTE 1 in other channels. When you then select it you can view text using the text button on your TV's remote control. You must watch via SCART or through the TV's aerial socket. You can't watch text via the HDMI connection.

    Frequency for RTE1/2/TV3/TG4 is 10.744H, 22.0, 5/6.

Yes. No need to tune if the UK EPG loads up.

    101 will be BBC1, 102 BBC2, 103 ITV, 104 CH4, 105 CH5 etc.

    Also 115 BBC3, 116 BBC 4, 118 ITV2, 119 ITV3, 120 ITV4, 136 E4, 138 More 4. +1 versions of these channels (ITV's, E4, More 4) are also in the guide.

Film 4 and Film 4+1 are at 315 and 316.
