Ridley Scott - Prometheus. Not many could have pulled off a big budget philosophical science fiction flick lacking in action but somehow he made it stick in my mind weeks and months later.

Gareth Evans - The Raid. This Welsh man has thrown down the gauntlet to the American movie industry on how to make an action masterpiece.

Paul Thomas Anderson - The Master

Mike McCoy, Scott Waugh - Act of Valor (yes the film was pretty poor but they staged the action sequences so damn well. Really like to see what they do when not making a film that's to promote the Navy)

    Ben "Argof*ckyourself" Affleck.

Joss Whedon, The Avengers. Not my favourite movie of the year, but I didn't think even Whedon with his experience with ensemble casts could keep all of the balls in the air this time - still, he delivered.

    Ben Affleck, Argo.

100% agree with that, now THATS how you do an action/martial arts film!!

Also, Sam Mendez deserves a mention because leta be honest Quantum did a lot of damage and he pulled it back in fairness to him
