    Can't wait for this

There hasn't been as much hype around as you would expect for a heavyweight title bout between the 2 best heavyweights in the world (probably ever, sorry Fedor)

Jim Miller vs Joe Lauzon should be all action and exciting

Looking forward to Guillard and Varner too

    Good card

    I think I'm more pumped for Miller/Lauzon than Cain/JDS!

Going for a cheeky double on Lauzon and JDS @4.83 and a single on Lauzon to win by sub (price not up yet).

I really can't see JDS winning by anything besides a KO, not that it's outside the realms of possibility or his arsenal or anything. 8/11 to win via KO with PP, there are the same 8/11 odds however for a win via KO/Sub double chance so it makes sense to go with that. Really don't see it reaching the end of the 5th round and going to points to be honest.

Miller / Lauzon should be a war, really looking forward to that one. Will be rooting for J-Lo all the way.

Took a double there from Ladbrokes

Joe Lauzon and JDS to win inside the distance - €40 returns €245.33

Really dodgy fights to be throwing money on, both are 50/50 IMO.

I'll be rooting for Lauzon and JDS, but it wouldn't surprise me if both lost.

Hoping wins for the both of them

Can anyone tell me if this is being televised live in Dublin anywhere?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 11,139 Mod ✭✭✭✭Mr. Manager

The first 3 prelims will be on Facebook (23:30) and then the 2nd lot will be on UFC.tv (01:00) and then the main card will be on ESPN (04:00).

Really want JDS to win. Don't really like Cain. Don't get me wrong very good fighter but just don't like him. I think his striking is overrated after Kongo dropped him twice and found an interesting article about it (http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/12/21/3791428/ufc-155-cain-velasquez-junior-dos-santos-jack-slack-judo-chop)

Miller Louzon is a tough fight because both really like them. Would love to see Belcher win too because I rate him a lot. Looking forward to this!

I am disagreeing with opinions above. Miller will be too much for Lauzon. I don't think it will be close at all.

Bit late for me. Think I'll be setting the box to record this one!

According to the sky planner the main card starts at 3. Make sure you record the show right after it as well as ESPN have a habit of cutting short.

The countdown timer on ufc.tv has the main card starting at 3 as well.

This happened me a few weeks ago I never recorded the show following but sky did it for me. Impressed

Mike Goldberg won't be commentating at this one a - thank fück.

    Jon Anik is replacing him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,017 ✭✭✭the_doctor199

So it's Joe and Jon doing it? Mike can get a bit annoying but most of the stuff he says is the sponsor stuff that someone is obligated to do, Jon will probably still have to do it tonight.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 11,139 Mod ✭✭✭✭Mr. Manager

Yea apparently Mike is sick and taking some time off so we may see Jon at more numbered events.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 11,139 Mod ✭✭✭✭Mr. Manager

    Link here by the way.

I like Anik. Decent announcer but it still does my head in the way he never shakes the fighters hand after the fight!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,438 ✭✭✭✭El Guapo!

    Link here by the way.
In that link, an update at the bottom says Goldberg isn't actually sick but he's taking time out and there's no word on when he'll be back.
I wonder was there a falling out or something.

Could just be personal issues, no doubt people will hound him until the get the exact reason

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,455 ✭✭✭weemcd

Anyone else rooting for Cain here? he's my favourite HW by far (DC is prob second atm). hope he can do it, potential for a great fight here, last one didn't satisfy the appetite at all. He put a bad beating on bigfoot but junior is a much better athlete.

He is the exact type of opponent that suits Dos Santos. He leaves his hands too open when striking. JDS takes it by KO in the 1st or 2nd. Probably the 1st again though.

Weigh in - from 24.00 in

    http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/UFC-155-Weighin-Video-Dos-Santos-vs-Velasquez-2-48567

Cain looks so fukin hungry for this fight it's scary.
JDS is in the best shape I've ever seen him, not a pick on him and he seems relaxed as hell. This is gona be so deadly I can't wait for the bell! Just makes me not give a flying fuk about the other fights on the card even if they are potentially great too.

Dos Santos by a flash quick standing left hook while Vasquez kicks - is my call... I dreamed it last night : )

Will it be a good event for the uninitiated?

And... anyone betting on it? Wheres the value to be had?

Really like both fighters but im struggling to look past jds here

I think cain will have to stand with him to beat him and i don't think
    it's gonna happen

Good point but do we really know how good jds is on the ground

He's spent a sum total of 13 seconds on the ground in his UFC career so it's a bit hard to call that one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42 Patrick Quinn

Jds ground game hasnt been seen yet could happen tonight if cain drives for the takedown but if it stays standing jds wins with his high level boxing

Why do they use those manual scales for weigh in does anyone know? would it not be easier and more accurate to use digital ones?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19 Martsarts

Love both fighters, I'm going against the grain and saying Cain to win on points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,188 ✭✭✭cletus

Maybe, just maybe it could have gone to points if a 3 rounder, but no way will this fight 25 minutes without someone going to sleep

I dunno man. Cain is the most determined I've ever seen, I predicted junior in the first fight as he was a very hungry young man and Cain definately seemed more relaxed.

Cain at his best is unstoppable, he will look to avoid juniors lethal hands with long range takedowns, I reckon junior will stuff them in the first 2 rounds and gas. Cain will continue an onslaught of takedowns and ground and pound as he is the smaller man, he has the advantage in the cardio stakes. If junior wants to win this, he will have to knock Cain out in the first 2 rounds.

Looking forward to a few good fights tonight!

I know a lot of people disagree with me, but I don't think Dos Santos is anywhere near as unbeatable as people think he is. I fancy Valasquez to dominate tonight! Win by stoppage in the 2nd round!

I've been to 6 UFC events and i've been in my seat for the first fight at every one, can't understand how people only bother arriving for the main card, miss some cracking fights

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Xlami

Ah to be fair to Leonard he is never in a boring fight. He just has never properly evolved and makes his opponent look like he's in the Matrix; but his activity and cardio alone fool judges. Look at the number of split decisions and robberys he's been involved in.

I love watching Garcia fight. He's a nutter, those fights with Korean Zombie alone should see a statue made of him!!

    Idiots!

I think the ratio of proper fights fans to those who are there just to go there while they're hanging out in Vegas is big!

I remember seeing Shaq once taking his seat in the closing seconds of a Main Event!
