Was out in the garden at about 12 Christmas Eve.

I could hear a really loud constant squeal that was moving very fast. After this a couple of times I heard what I think was two foxs barking it sounded like a hoarse dog. So in I went gun lamp jacket and out the the field. On my way down to the field I heard the bark twice.

Got to the gate checked the wind direction and on with the lamp. Seen noting I called for about 20 mins and not 1 eye. Was it a fox barking I heard.
I also last a hen on Monday two weeks ago I though be he back for more.

A fox sounds something like a cross between the bark of a pup (domestic dog) and a human baby crying.

Muntjac are known to have a bark quite similar to a dog*

*just putting this out there to see what reaction is out there to be honest, you have more chance of winning the euro-millions than it being a Muntjac.

Its cos they are more interested in ridin than you squeeling.

    Good choice of words. ;)

How about trying a fox call rather than a prey squeal.

When you say bark could be the mating screech this time of year?..

I find its the most effective on the caller this time.. come it like trains to the sound of the box..

I heard of a fellah somewhere on the tinternet getting a tin of dogfood and rubbing it into the grass with his boot. i expect the fox is so busy licking it up off the ground he won't notice you about to shoot him.
