Looks like a CLS and Fluence had a baby together. All wrong, in other words.

Alot of photoshop. I wonder what it really looks like.

Looks like it has potential. Don't like them ebay led's on the headlights.

Yuck! The front looks really bulky

I'd have one if it looked like that, but I'm sure you'd need to spend €60k to make it look like that in Ireland...and for a saloon superminis, no thanks.

Looks well, and apparently slightly larger, wider and lower than current c class saloon. If they price it to compete with 1 series and A3 they should sell a few...

A3 saloon on the way, will also I'd assume take people from 1 series coupe. If its as big as outlined it will take c class customers also and allow it to increase in size for new version.

I would have thought it was competing against the A4, 320d/i etc..

Just thought I'd dig this up after watching a couple of reviews.

    Price List Here

180 with AMG pack at 33K looks decent. Would like the see the A3 saloon to see if the S line version will undercut that. Watched the Review of the A3 by Bob Flavin and it looked a really nice motor.

Would rather spend 28-30K on an A3 saloon than a specced up Fluence or Kia Optima...

Popped over to the local merc dealer last week to see this. Look a bit ungainly from the back from a distance but nice close up. The interior is tight but not a whole lot more than my E90. Reminded me of the pisshat cc inside visibility wise. Nice place to sit but the screen on the dash looks like somebody stuck their digital photo frame on. Just looks odd.

Steep alright. Nice to see a range of more efficient petrol engines these days though.

    Its rare enough...

    33k for a 122bhp slow mobile isn't great IMO.

You are looking at 40k for a halfway decent normal powered version. Pretty dissapointing. Although a second hand 250 might be good value in a couple of years if they sell any, even then it's seriously light in power for that badge.

i wish merc and others would go back to badging cars according to engine size,a cla 180 and cla 200 both with 1.6 although cla160 doesnt sound the same.

A very nice looking car . I never liked Mercs ungainly CLS as it was too big and bulky. The 180 AMG is at a very good price point if it drives well in Manual. You could pay 30k for a 'normal car'. Why not pay a few euros more for a Benz.

There is no doubt it is worth the extra for such a nice looking saloon, compared to an avensis/passat/mondeo etc. a little less practical, but probably hold value better. It's just a pity the engines are all so low powered so it has no performance to back up the looks or indeed the lovely dual exhausts I saw on the back of a 180 version. Nicer than the back of most cars twice as fast...

I wonder if the engine can be chipped. The higher power versions use the same 1.6l block.

It's also front wheel drive also, and like its predecessors in the A-Class family, not so great in the handling category.
