Is it Dublin you are in?

Right price tiles obviously do tiles but they have bathroom suites and shower doors etc as well. You might get a deal on the a lot.

No. Laois is where the original poster's profile says they are. Although it would probably be worth the drive to Dublin to pick up a good deal. This is the week to get it done as well I'd say.

Im in the exact same position as the OP but have bought a few bits already.

Irelandspurs I got the tiles already from right price tiles but did'nt buy the adhesive or BORDERS as they are a rip off for those especially the borders.

Need shower tray, door electric pump and toilet if anyone see's anywhere around the dublin meath louth areas.

Any good builders providers like Heiton Buckleys or Chadwicks will have a good selection of plumbing and bathroom products and also the likes of sinks, cabinets, basins, shower pumps and baths aswell.

I got a fantastic deal on some Sonas Oslo bathroom cabinets and basins in Heiton Buckleys last month.....way cheaper than any of the tile shops would give me.

We bought tiles some years ago from one of those Tubs and Tiles sort of places when we were doing up the kitchen. The tiler was supplying labour only.

Once we decided which tiles to go for, we told the sales assistant to give us what adhesive, grouting etc was necessary for the amount of tiles we had bought. We were a bit taken aback at the cost of the other parts, but paid anyway.

After the tiler started laying the tiles, he told us we had far too much adhesive and grout. We told him that that was what was recommended and showed him the receipt.

He nearly choked when he seen what we had been charged. He told us that it was over twice what Atlantic would have charged.

We then realised that we had been conned. Less than 1/2 price tile sale etc. It doesn't matter if they are charging well over the odds for the anciliaries, which is where the profit is.

We brought the remainder of the anciliaries back, explained that our tiler supplied his own, got a refund, and were quickly on our way to Atlantic.

Buy your tiles where ever but let the tiler provide the adhesive that way he can not blame anything but himself on bad work.

Be careful when buying taps. Some are high pressure and won't work well in Ireland without pumps. Btw high pressure in Ireland is 0.5 bar but this is low pressure in England.

If you choose to buy a shower and its a quadrant don't get anything less than a 900

Go for a Mira Vigour thermostatic, thats a power shower, thermostatically controlled woth a built in pump.
You can get them in the plumbing shop in the middle of the town, sorry cant remember the name of the shop

No thats whats known as a bar valve, they need a pump for pressure which will be located in your hotpress.
Dan Donughue is the plumbing shop in Laoise, Dan is a nice helpful man who wont point you the wrong direction.
My advise is dont buy something like a shower off a website unless you are sure thats what you want and more important suits your plumbing and needs, cant beat face time with someone like Dan, never be behind the door to bargin if you find its pricy, remember if we all buy a bit more locally we support each other and keep jobs at home.

I had the miss fortune of finding this out with a well known DIY store and one of their mixer taps last year.

Sales lad told me that YES it would work no problem here in Ireland with low pressure and on the hot side.

    It didnt work.:(

Took it back and got my money back, and bought some bathroom fittings and some furniture instead

If the ensuited is upstairs make sure you put in a tanking system around this shower walls. Evode sell a good one for €75 and it's the best money you will spend in that ensuite

Yes have seen this done on jobs i've been on was thinking of doing this as we've had problems with leaks on this shower.

If anyone happens to be in shops selling shower enclosures could you note down the prices for me,thinking of getting an offset one 1000x800 as we wouldn't fit 900x900 unless we move a lot of the pipe work and we have 800x800 now which is very small.

I've bought a good few bits from them over recent years. I could never better their prices. Always did me a deal with multiple purchases.

That said, I got a whirlpool bath, vogue toilet and WH Basin for main bathroom. 800 quad low level tray and doors for ensuite, 2 regular WH basins And 2 close couple cistern and bogs, 10sq yes of floor tiles and approx 50 sq yes wall tiles with borders for all 3. Bathroom, ensuite and downstairs loo, all trims, adhesive, grout, fixtures And taps for.......€1300 cash about 4 yrs ago IIRC. Vogue bathrooms in northwest business park, D15. To this day, I still can't believe it.

    Somebody obviously pocketed the cash.

Plans changed, oven blew up after christmas so took some of the budget and decided to do the big bathroom instead as we only have 1 shower in the house which is in the en suite so going to do the main bathroom up instead. We also got a water softener fitted as if we going to spend money want to have the bathroom looking nice instead of lots of limescale. So is work in progress.

Plans Changed again,i'm back doing the En-suite,slowly but surely.I ordered from Bathshack in the week so just waiting for it to arrive.
I'm hoping to do a good job on it so i've ripped it all out and started fresh,i have the old ceiling and walls ripped out and have put in a new ceiling stud and boarded yesterday and have one wall boarded.
Going to look at the plumbing today as i want to change the position of the shower (should be fun).

Thats a whole different matter indeed for another forum.........:pac:

Tanking is all about waterproofing the ensuite/bathroom area so that no water/leaks gets through and destroys any other parts of the house.

Put a new ceiling in and boarded ready for skimming, old ceiling was not very level.

In my Pictures can anyone tell me if that Dark grey pex pipe is uk or irish 1/2".Bought a Mira vigour shower and it has 15mm connections on it for hot and cold and need to extend the pipe to the right position for shower to go, and ready for plumber to come but it's holding me up and need to get the walls boarded.
I got a couple of hep2o connections from builder providers but one end is grey and one end is white.

Easy to find out. The shower prob came with the correct 15mm shower couplings. Take a 1/2 nut. If it slips cleanly over the pipe, then it's 1/2". If its 15mm, it will be tight, and so will the olive. Eitherway, just use the straight brass compression connectors ( with correct olive & nut ) on the existing pipe.

Extend to required length with regular 1/2" qualpex.

The plumber will then attach to the shower with the correct connectors.

Cheers the shower is designed for push fit i think?
Think i'll just wait for the plumber to come down :(

Can I ask a very basic question related to the original post:

We need a new en suite (shower, toilet, floor/wall tiles) but are not sure who to call or the best in order in which to do things. Do we need a plumber, a tiler or both? Should we go out and find tiles we like or get someone around to take a look first and help us decide what might be most suitable?

Yes, we are complete novices so thanks for your patience :o

Where are you based, you might be better finding someone that does bathroom renovations they will either do it all or have lads to do the plumbing etc. Do need to pick your own tiles etc but whoever you ask to do it will measure up for you.

Thanks Irelandspurs. In Kildare but quite near west Dublin/Lucan area so usually plenty of people around to do this kind of work.

Will start asking locally about bathroom renovations and take it from there.
Cheers! Nice job, by the way
