    Define "Overweight."

Sexually No, I find that I can be attracted in another way to a person's personality. I admire them but don't want to go to bed with them if you know what I mean.

Yes, we all do, almost as much as we love stupid questions.

    Good question.
While we're at it, I've been wondering, for some time now, does anybody know any other information relating to various other opinions?

I like curves on a woman. Proper curves like Marilyn Monroe or something like that, not obese women who think they have curves.

That'd be voluptuous....and that's not overweight, that's healthy and used to be considered normal.

Hate the bloody skinny size 0 mongrels. Really don't want to have worry about breaking them or being stabbed with a hip

Mongrels? Really? Btw there is no such size as 0 in Ireland. It's size 4 that you are talking about and many women are that size naturally - they're not mongrels! Nice bit of trivia - Marilyn Monroe would be closer to today's size 6-8 than the 12-14 so often attributed to her. Now how does that work? Considering you're calling her voluptuous and yet she was not much bigger than a 'skinny mongrel'...

Then he is out of luck. The disabled can have an exception until bionic arms become affordable.. then its the same rule for them!

Yes, they could have just said that they don't find slim/skinny women attractive, nothing wrong with that but no need to call them mongrels, I wouldn't even call my dog that

Really.....you're sure of this now? Cause I've seen my size 6/8 OH trying to get into what would be size 0 stateside and I can guarantee you they were nowhere near.

And yes, I think this and this is nasty looking (although the second one is very pretty) and quite off putting to be honest.

Absolute LUNACY that this and this is considered a 'plus size' model these days.

She was. However, back then a size 12 was closer to a 6-8 by today's standards. Vanity sizing means we have altered the measurement for each size over time. If you google her waist measurement it's tiny and in general she was quite slim.

Yup. She had a 22-23 inch waist. Look at the sizing charts, no way in hell was she a 12 in todays sizes.

    Depends what you are asking

Do men find some women attractive purely because they are overweight? A small percentage of men have this fetish.

Can a man find an overweight woman attractive not despite or because they are overweight but due to the fact they look good overall? Yes I would say most men would find some women who are medically overweight attractive because they carry it well and look good.

Personally there have been women who were “overweight” who I have found attractive just as there were skinny women who I have found attractive you can’t make such a generalisation as someone’s waistline is only one element of their physical attractiveness (aside from their personality and other factors which have an impact) It’s not that much different than saying I like/don’t like red heads/Italians/whatever other indicator as individuals within those categories vary so much.

tldr: Yeah if she has big tits

Apologies, I mean size 4 - which doesn't really exist over here. Post edited. Size 6 is the smallest you can get here and even that is hard to find and that is a size 2 in US sizing. My point still stands though - some people are that skinny naturally. The pics you have linked are of models that I would guess are severely underweight for their heights. However, someone who is very short with small bone structure could easily be a size 6 and be healthy.

Agree, my sister in law is a size 6 all her family are very slim and It's not down to not eating or over exercising. She has a child aswell and literally just snapped back into shape.

Gotta love the curves. I think a lot of women could be considered to be in the medically overweight region and be just as attractive if they were in or around their ideal weight. IMO, I think most women who complain about their weight need their head examined and I'm sure most guys will agree.

But hey, we all know that women don't do everything just to impress men.

Her waist measurement was tiny, a modern size 6/8, but her hip and bust measurement was larger making her overall dress size a modern 10/12. I've seen some of her dresses displayed and she certainly wasn't a size 6!

You don't read well do you? Maybe try clicking on a few links in the posts I put up and you might get the general gist of what I'm trying to tell you.

In short.....it seems that today a size 8 would be considered closer to a plus size model than a runway model. Which I think is wrong on any number of levels.

And no I don't think that a size 0 (that'd be our size 4!!) is attractive, unless it happens to be in a woman with a naturally very slight build and they're few and far between. It's definitely not something to thrive for for the average woman and definitely shouldn't be portrayed as such.

I've seen perfectly healthy and normal 6 year old girls worried about eating sweets because their mothers are obsessing about their weight. (seems an entirely new way of ****ing up your kids these days).

If you think that's a good thing....then that's your prerogative and I won't loose any sleep over it. But I for one am happy my OH and kids enjoyed their Christmas dinner, their choccies and their sweets today. (oh and the 1000 or so calories worth of Bailys for the mrs)

Apparently when her white dress from the 7 year itch was auctioned they put it on a size 2 mannequin, but couldn't zip it up as the mannequin was too big.
She had her clothes custom made tbh, don't think a 10/12 now would have fitted her properly, or a size 6/8

I've no issues with a size 6, my other half is 6/8 depending on where she shops. But she's naturally petite, eats healthily and works out very regularly.

I just don't think it's something that needs to be portrayed as something to strive for for the average (let's face it) girl/woman cause it's just not gonna happen for a lot of them, and especially not smaller.

Nothing wrong with a bit of curves here and there.

Having said that, maybe for a lot of us the ideal is somewhere in the middle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

You can have too skinny as well. I have walked around town some days and seen women so skinny that if they ate a happy meal, the outline of the food would show on them, they look starved. They look so sick and unhealthy. Women have a higher percentage of body fat than men as standard for a reason.
