I have a ch x fr cow that is six months in calf, she is a bit down on body condition so i isolated her and gave her oral dose, boluses, ivermectin injection etc all precautionary and im a week feeding her and she seems better already and eating away.

she has not been scanned and may be carrying twins as she had some 3 years ago, now today when i fed her there today she was slow enough to get up and was a fair big blob (100-300ml) of cloudy slime/discharge on ground behind her... what would ye think or this fairly normal, at only 6 months in i never saw this leaving them before.

She had a bit of trouble calving last year alright as big BB bull came backways but we got him out really quickly and she helped so didnt pull the life out of her

Any sign of her pin bones going down if it was clear slime (not bloody) I'd say she's going to throw them but hasn't yet,

Would you not put your hand partially in to see if there is a smell?

I've seen the odd old cow that would show as you descrided, an off colour discharge. I'd far sooner see a clear discharge but if it wasn't bloody I would still hold out some hope. Keep a close eye on her. I hope she's ok for you.

Ya, clear slime I'd be thinking ok, but cloudy slime, I'd be thinking maybe infection of some kind.

i checked her again late tonight and she bright as a button ate meal/silage etc dry behind, still heavy in calf but watch this space

Can she see the other cattle when she's isolated. It stresses them a lot when they are on their own.

    Hi Pak,

Yeah her comrades are just beside her and she eats right next to them over a 4ft wall with a row of wire on top, she dry as a bone today and eating away and chewing the cud ... and even though day is rough she seems strong and healthy.. just keep an eye and keep feeding her and get the vet to give her a once over check
