Hey folks, basically I'm getting a new system with some Christmas money.

Can you use any parts from an old computer? I have a case but must find out how to identify what motherboards it is compatible with.

I have 2 hard drives and disk drives that I can reuse. The hard drives are about 6 years old, think they're seagate barracuda 160gb drives which should be alright for gaming anyway? The size of the HDDs isn't an issue.

Also I have a PSU 'Enermax model : EG701AX-VE(W) (24P)' which may still be alright for use? I've googled it but I couldn't find an answer as to whether this unit would still be relevant today. It has been used sparingly over the last 6 years so should still have plenty of life in it but I'm not sure if it will be sufficient for todays technology?

Here are the components I've selected but would appreciate any info/advice!

Also I would like for the PC to connect to my TV via HDMI which I'm assuming is standard these days anyway but said I would throw it out there just to make sure. Overclocking is also something I wish to do and has influenced my decision regarding motherboard and processor (and purchasing of cooler). I want to order ASAP so all advice appreciated and spend ~€400-€525.

    Thanks in advance folks.

If the case is the atx standard it will work

Power supply should be ok. If it does not have an 8 pin cpu connector you will need an adaptor

HDMI comes as standard on that card.

The parts look fine to me.

This was the board that the PSU was used with previously. Not sure if it has an 8 pin connector or not? I think it's a 4 pin.

So would this do the trick then? Going to order in the next few minutes :D:D

Are the HDs SATA or IDE?

I had a closer look at the board you're getting and it looks like it just has a standard 4 pin CPU 12v :)

Cool, ordered a connector for £3.05 on amazon earlier just to be on the safe side because there was just 1 graphics card left in stock, there was 6 at about 4pm! Just deleted the connector from my order anyway so happy days. Thanks for the advice :~)
