4 mile race on the 26th.
Fast 5km race in the middle of nowhere in Wales on the evening of the 31st.
10km race possibly on the 1st depending on how many shandies are drunk the night before.
    Skiing on the 5th. :D:D:D:D

13km Wicklow Way run with the Tri club on the 26th, from Tinahely and ending with pints at the Dying Cow. Then two days recovery before racing season starts on the 29th. Pool is closed all week so extreme swimming locations are necessitated.

No races planned, but will go for as many runs as I can fit in. Mostly easy pace, fitting them in with the household plans.

I love going for a run in winter. Leaving behind too many people in an overheated house for fresh air and time on my own.

I prefer it to running in summer.

Goal Mile with my 4 year old Christmas Morning at a steady 20min/mile pace!
Do absolutely nothing else other than eat for the next week. Running is off the menu.

Just wondernig what the story is with the Goal mile in the phoenix park? I know its all very casual but saw most venues have a set start time whereas the park is 10-12- is it a cas eof turn up and do a mile or is there a set off time with a large group?

A daily short jog to keep some calories at bay. Tagging along to Tri guys trail run on 29th. Will run the IMRA Annacurra route once or twice over the hols, so if anyone was stuck for a run they are welcome to join. Some morning 9ish so you'll have the day for the usual family stuff.

Goal Mile tomorrow, 5k race on Stephen's Day although it's not a real race so will be a gentile enough affair. Then 10k race on New Years Day, again will be more for fun as I'm only doing it as it's up near the in-laws house!

    Merry Christmas to all!

May do the goal mile. No running since calf twinge on Saturday. Not a bad time to be resting mind.

Mid track season here so can't slack off too much. Taking a few easy days and some days off at the moment but from the 26th on it will be full steam ahead. Coach has plenty of sessions planned and knowing him he wont be going easy on us. Some hill sessions planned also. The idea is to use Christmas as a sort of mini-winter to build up more strength for the final push into championship time of year.

    Merry Christmas all.

Had hoped to do lots of training but down with a cold so will drag the body around for the Goal Mile tomorrow and then relax and start fresh in a few days when I have rid of this

Working today so did a 7mile run before work, don't have much plans due to lack of time off and other plans....that and I appear to have done myself a little bit of as injury during the week because I did something silly :(

Off this week , so plan on getting loads of long runs in , including marathons on the 29th and 31st.
With luck and a bit of fun , I might make my longest mileage week ever. Fingers crossed.

Tradition for the last few years has been that I'll leave the house (on foot) and try and beat the family to the top of the local hill (Carrigologan), while the rest of the family travels by car and hikes from the nearby car-park to the summit. It's my birthday the day before, so you can usually count on a hangover.

The family always beat me to the top of the hill. But, I have always won the downhill race. This year, I arrived home, prepared the goose and stuck it in the oven, had my shower and then got a call to rescue my eldest, who got lost on his way back down from the hill, so headed out on the motorcycle to pick him up. Another point scored in the race between man and machine. :) Smug.

Got out for a nice run on the 25th. Got the bird in the oven and most else ready too. Headed out without watch or plan but ended up doing a sprightly 7 k on the tarmac before heading into mucky trail run for last 6 k or so. Even went across a field at one stage - watery mud! Da jowb, as we say in Cork. Also saw three little deer in the woods.

Rest of the day was eating and drinking. Will maybe do a shortish spin now before another 'relaxing' afternoon. Oh, yeah, registered for Lux half marathon last night. Not under the influence though, was always on the agenda.

Went out for a 10 k this morning and for whatever reason, decided to push it a bit. Twas hilly and windy and as luck would have it, the wind was in the face on the major climb and even more so on the plateau at end of climb. That knocked the stuffing out of me - to be seasonal - but I was able to pick it up after I got the breath back.

Back to the eating and drinking since, including a bottle of Alion 2004. Yummmmmmmmmmy.

5 easy peasy miles in outrageous Irish weather. Didn't enjoy this run at all but happy now it's over as I needed a recovery day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,533 ✭✭✭iceage

Stuck a breezy 5 miler today, the slowest of my last three runs in the last 8 days after all the grub and beer of this festive season. Now have ire in the most amazing places.

I've been tapering down from a high volume of training, and will be heading out to run a 72hour race which starts on the 29th. Should be interesting, to say the least. I haven't tackled a running race this long before.

    Best of luck Enduro.

A nice xmas break down south Wicklow way here. I've managed 6 consecutive days. Nothing too long or fast but still its great to get out and get air into the lungs and balance out the excesses of the season.
