dunno, the Tower have a brilliant reputation so unlikely to do something despicable. Maybe they just see it as not worth keeping everything open if the bookings for Christmas are not there. Happy that the staff get to take time off.

A few of the hotels in town close for a couple of days over Xmas. I worked night security in Dooley's for a couple of years over Christmas.

Its a spooky place when your'e there by yourself full of creeks and noises. Worse still the bar was locked

How is it "despicible" for a hotel to close? Is it just as "despicible" for a shop to close? Hotels have peak and off peak seasons for a reason..

4pm Sunday is a most unusual time to close ............I would think that many of the people there today at 4pm were surprised .

Not really. Accomodates lunch and late check outs. Closing time set when the bulk of new check ins would usually begin

    Okay - understood .

Not much point in staying opening late tonight if there are no guests .

Always drank there on Christmas eve when they closed at 10pm so it is a bit strange this year all right, but then again it depends on when Christmas falls/demand.

Worked there many years back and it always closed at 4pm for Christmas.

Truly 'despicable' alright, what with the world shutting down/slowing to an entirely manageable and relaxing crawl for a matter of hours.

You definitely didn't for the last 8 years anyway...

Hotel always closed on the 23rd and reopened on the 28th. There's no demand for beds at this time of year and the price they'd have to charge to make it viable would put people off anyway.
