    Hi upderebels,

Same problem here with three new Ariva 150's. Reboots the system when trying to access certain areas of the internet (Internet TV and YouTube). I have one wired and two wifi. Installed the latest software (1.21B6) had no effect.

    Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

    Help :-(

I have installed a 250 combo and I'm having problems with the internet. I am using a wired connection to the router and when I try to load Youtube or WebTV I get "Movie not founded on server"

Is there something I need to set up that I'm missing. Any help would be great.

    Thanks

As above, i would suggest that you post in the main Ariva thread.

But most of the time YouTube and the other Internet apps do not work because the companies that own these sites change their location/permission.

I dont know what s/w version youare on, but update to the latest one and you might get some of the apps to work for a while.

    Thanks for response.

This is a new box with the latest firmware. But here is another issue. When I try to update using the "Upgrade by Network" option I get "Connection to server failed". So it seems to be my connection not Youtube location or permission. Any thoughts?

What versionis your s/w - just coz your box is new it does not mean it has the latest s/w

I would recommend upgrading by USB rather than Network

    Hi scano001,

Are you sure your Ariva is correctly connected to your network? Have you configured the Network side correctly. Try pinging the Ariva from a PC on the same subnetwork. If you are not sure how, from the PC goto Start, Run and enter the command CMD in the run box and press enter. This should open a black screen with a blinking cursor. Type the command Ping <space> and the IP address of your Ariva and note the results. If it says something like "destination unreachable" then it's a network issue.

If you go to the network settings on the Ariva it should show the IP address, Subnet Mask, default gateway and DNS Settings. The Subnet Mask, Default gateway and DNS settings should be the same as the PC. The IP address will be the same structure but slightly different.

Just wondering should DHCP be on or off?

    Hi.

DHCP is set to "on" and the software version is V1.21B6
    Does this help?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 scano001

I did try and Ping the box.

I put in the IP address 192.168.001.051 (as per the info) and the response was:
Reply from 192.168.1.29 Destination host unreachable.

Obviously something wrong with accessing the router from the box but I don't know what to set up?

    Thanks

    Thanks iba.

I did check with the box provider and he is aware of the update but says it has no impact on network or internet connections.

Thats correct, the latest f/w would not have an impact but you stated earlier that you had the latest f/w and clearly you dont.

As I mentioned earlier, the internet apps only work from time to time and usually after each update they work for a period of time.

Thanks iba, I'll do the update as suggested, do you think this will sort out my internet connection problem?

    Hi scano001

Can you please post the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS Server settings for the ARIVA and the PC you pinged it from.

I note you said that you are using a wired connection to the router. Are you sure you connected to a LAN port and not a the WAN port on the router? Usually the 4 LAN ports are together and the one oddball port is the WAN port.

If DHCP is enabled, then your router should assign a free IP address on the same subnet to the Ariva. Also if you can, try changing the network cable from the router to the ariva to rule out a cable fault.

If the cable is OK, the IP addresses are on the same subnet and you are not connected to a WAN port, then you may have to look at the router's firewall settings.

    Get back to us.

    No, it wont

Your first post was about getting the apps to work - Ive informed you about the apps. I dont know what your problm is actuallygtting teh box to connect to the thred - but if you post in teh main Ariva thread (like previousy advised) there re 100s of people who would be able to help you there.

All Im saying is that after each update the apps work for a while and then they go again.

Your internet connection problem is something else.

    Hi Yuptizme.

    Ariva box info
    DHCP
    IP address. 192.168.001.051
    subnet 255.255.255.000
    Gateway 192.168.001.254
    DNS server 192.168.001.254

It's connected to a LAN port and the cable is good as I have used it successfully on a laptop. I have connected other PCs to the machine without problems. BUT I do have to use the router password to access the Internet from them.

When exiting the menu it states that STB has successfully got an IP address. But as above I'm unable to ping that address.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi scano001,

Well at least the router is supplying an IP address to the Ariva. It would appear that you have an eircom router. It may be an issue with it's firewall settings. You might try disabling the firewall.

    Thanks.

I'll try that when there is no one using the internet and check if that works.

    I'll let you know

I did check with the box provider and he is aware of the update but says it has no impact on network or internet connections.

The reason they keep releasing firmware versions is because of the internet functionality! This is because the urls are hardcoded into the firmware. When the operators move stuff around the box no longer finds the links as they are no longed cached where the once were.

Upgrade the firmware to the latest version.

Your router is behaving normally. Its the firmware version.

Thanks for all the advise. I'm up and running.

    Cheers

I have lost all my previous stations. Do I need to start again searching satellites and channels?

Glad you got it sorted - are any of the apps actually working?

Yes, every time you upgrade you lose the stations and have to rescan - on the main Ariva thread, a guy has posted only today an updated station list which might be of interest to you.

So go to sat list, put love heart beside Astra 28 and then go to single sat scan and click FTA only (and radio if you want radio)
