Calf Shed

    Hello Guys.
    I have a shed 40ft X 20 Foot & was thinking about turning it into a shed for drop calves. Any ideas on how to pen it? A cheap way! Group pens (Total 3 pens)!!

    How many calves? 25-30 maybe.

    I'd suggest 3 pens made with gates, have a small pen to train 3 calves at a time with a multi bucket, then move them on to a group of 8-9 fed with a teat feeder hung on the gate. Maybe other ppl will have more ideas.

    If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    Hi I was thinking about holding approx 30 calves! How much would it cost to kit it out into pens for calf batches?? hay Racks, Water, Meal etc...

    What does people use for hot water when rearing calves. Eg boiler?

    Unless the ventelation is near perfect in your shed you could be drawing a lot of trouble on yourself putting young calves in it. It would be my first concern TBH.
