Anyone know what the battery life on this would be like? Its supposed to have an 8 cell battery.

Would it be decent enough for light gaming? (LOTR: WITN, FM13, Fallout 3 and NV)

Woud it be possible to upgrade to 8GB of ram and an SSD?

I have pretty much the same laptop, the ux32a, so it's missing the dedicated graphics, and afaik that's the main difference.

It's a very sleek machine, really looks and feels great.

The keyboard is very good, have absolutely no complaints there.

The screen is decent, not amazing, but nothing to complain about either, except maybe the resolution, but it's grand.

Mine is fairly snappy, I don't game, but for my uses it's fast to boot, and fast to do most tasks.

Battery life is so so, I reckon 5 hours with regular use. Wouldn't bank on much more than that being honest.

I have 10GB RAM in mine, and will probably upgrade to a full SSD in the new year. If that model is the same as mine it has 2GB soldered to the board, and one user swappable slot.

Overall, it's a lovely laptop, and at the price on that site, I reckon it's a great buy.

I got mine a few days ago and its great. I was hoping for a bit of advice though. I'm after buying the SSD from amazon that was going cheep and I'm wondering how to go about installing it. I've no licence for windows 8, just a shiny sticker with the windows logo and Windows 8 written below it. There is clearly something under it but I wasn't sure about peeling the windows 8 Sticker off. Could I just clone the old hard drive onto the SSD? The main partition now is smaller than the new SSD? I was hoping to keep the recovery partition so would that stay on it if I cloned the drive?

I was also going to upgrade to 12GB or 16GB of RAM because I only have 1 4GB stick in mine and its not soldered in. But the manual and the ASUS site says up to 8GB and crucial says that its up to 16GB. Is yours the same?

EDIT: I was just thinking if I connected the SSD via USB might it be possible to use the recovery partition to install to the SSD?

Second EDIT: I just got it sorted, there's an option to use a USB drive as a recovery partition. Still don't know about RAM though.

On the Asus website, my machine said there was a max of 4GB:p:p, that was with 2GB soldered to the board, and one 2GB stick in the RAM slot. I popped in an 8GB stick and was working away perfectly. It was a piece of cake.

I would be quite certain your machine is the same configuration, that is 2GB soldered to the board, and another 2GB in a normal RAM slot. If it is, I reckon 10GB is the max you'll get out of it, just due to the fact that the next larger single stick you'll get is a 16GB one, and I reckon that wouldn't work. My hunch is that these machines will only accept 16GB max. And with only 1 slot it makes it impossible to get exactly that.

I opened mine, and its definately 1 4GB stick, and I've taken it out so it's not stuck in. I'm going to listen to crucial and take it as 16GB max because ASUS was wrong about yours too.
