Hitachi excavator parts...

Does anyone know of any suppliers in Ireland for Hitachi excavator parts?

When I checked online, the Hitachi site directed me to a supplier in Tyne and Wear, so looking for somewhere closer if possible.

Specifically looking for a fan belt tensioner part for an EX75. The adjustment bolt sheared on us this morning (belt was a bit loose, and skweeking), it might be possible to find a replacement bolt easily enough, but we think the bearing in the wheel might have been on it's way out anyway, so might be better to replace the whole unit. Doesn't look like a difficult job.

Try O'Meara parts (OMP) in Ardagh, Co Longford.

Hitachi parts are their core business.

Thanks for the replies, a few of those places aren't too far from us.

Have a quick couple of questions for anyone who might have spent a bit of time under the hood of one of these...

We had a good look at the tensioner, had it off and the bearing seems to be ok, but the tensioner is at it's maximum (can't tighten the belt any further), and the belt isn't very tight. My Dad was saying that some local guy who repairs diggers in the area put a new belt on over a year ago, but said at the time to him that the belt mightn't be the exact correct one, so that might be the issue why it's loose (it's an Optibelt XPB 1500).

We don't claim to be experts on these engines, but we were trying to figure out what the belt is driving. There are two belts on that side of the engine, both connected to a wheel the bottom of the engine, and the belt closer to the engine block runs around the radiator fan and what we think is the alternator at the back of the engine. This is similar to what I've seen in an engine workshop manual I found on the web (Isuzu A-4JG1), although the alternator is in a slightly different place.

The other belt, the loose one, runs around the bottom wheel, the tensioner, and a device mounted at the top of the engine. We thought initially it was an alternator, but when we saw the device at the back which looked more like an alternator, we thought it must be something else, and when we looked at it closer, saw a couple of hoses coming from it, over the main radiator to another smaller radiator, which, amongs other hoses, has a silver canister with "HFC" (hydroflourocarbon?) marked on it, making us think this is part of air con equipment (apologies if we sound ignorant, but we never, and still don't have cars or tractors with air con in them!)

Does this sound right? So if we're looking for a belt, it's an air con belt we're looking for?

Or maybe it's for cooling the hydraulic oil?

Also, given that my Dad has the excavator maybe 5 years, never knew/used/tried/needed the air con, could we just leave the belt off? Might be out of coolant anyway. Would there be anything else we would need to do to decommission the air con if it didn't have a belt to drive what we think is an air con compressor?

Thanks in advance if you've made it this far, and have any good suggestions, and for the suppliers already posted above.

Our hitachi doesn't have air conditioning, but from what you are describing that belt is driving the air conditioning motor. Parts for these machines are ten a penny, you should have no bother getting the correct belt for it off of one of the above. I had to put a new exhaust on our ex135 got it off m and s spares, from what I remember it was not dear at all.

Thanks Jack, the machine is a Japanese import, so very likely that it would have air con, we were thinking.

After having a search online earlier, and seeing hydraulic oil coolers, was wondering if maybe it was one of those instead of air con, but the HFC label makes us think air con. Engine bay is very tight in there, difficult to see where pipes and hoses are going; would hate to have to change out the alternator.

Alternator will have wires coming out of it aircon compressor will have two pipes coming out of it, its on the back next to the countetweight on a 120. Ring a parts supplier and theyll tell you which belt fits.
