I'm leaving Ireland in January, no intention of living here again for a few years. I will be getting a salary payment in Ireland in January plus a lump sum (about another months salary) and then I'll be gone before the end of the month. Is there any way to have all your tax credits applied to one month instead of going through the process of claiming it back later?

    Thanks

you say you have no intention of returning ...but what if several months down the line you are forced to return for whatever reason.

do you think it would be ok for the tax people to have to try to cope with people claiming they were going to be out of the country later in the year and then circumstances change and they never left.....revenue and other tax officials have enough trouble trying to keep on top of the current tax system and the many ...many .... many loopholes/adjustments/credits etc that it holds.

so... as the other poster said.... No !

    Yes you can.

    It's called S 822 Split year relief.

There is a stickied thread on it above called Leaving Ireland.

    Read it.
