    Hi guys

I've a 01 Focus 'Ghia' model which is meant to have height & reach adjustment for the steering wheel.

When I pull down the lever underneath the wheel I cant seem to adjust the wheel at all  Any ideas why this might be?

    Thanks

Could be a bit stiff if it was never moved. I have to adjust it on my mothers Focus whenever I drive it and it's very easy to move. Mabe give it a good smack to dree it up a bit?

Thanks Kevin. I gave it a try but still wont move. I was literally hanging off it and it still wouldn't budge :(

The wheel is uncomfortably high in its standard position, feels like i'm driving a bus!

Did the boot / bonnet / petrol cap open when you pulled the lever?

I had the later model focus, but I remember mine being stiff enough to get down from the highest setting. Have you moved it before? You may need to pull the lever towards you and move the wheel at the same time.

No, I pull the lever and other than that nothing happens!

MrDerp, I just bought the car so that's why i'm trying to adjust it now.
It would seem like it hasn't been adjusted before and as a result it's probably stuck in-place... although I cant imagine how that would happen.

I test drove a car once that was 11 years old and adjusted the wheel with the little lever.
The owner, had it from new, said "what the hell, I never knew that existed!" so I'd say it should work even if it was never used before :D

    The levers broken maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,525 ✭✭✭ION08

Lever doesnt seem broken as there is some "feel" to it, it doesnt feel loose or disconnected.

Right, I'm off to wallop the crap out of the steering wheel ... let's hope I dont break anything :o

Try pushing the wheel up rather than down.

    Still wont budge!!

What the heck is going on with this damn wheel. So frustrating!

Isn't the lever under the wheel for the bonnet?

You sure you havn't been pulling that?

Yeah, its definitely not the lever for the bonnet! Id be fairly handy with cars myself but this baffles me!

Besides, it doesnt actually have a bonnet lever. Bonnet is opened with a key on Fords ;)

I knew the Mk2 had the key slot behind the badge, Wasn't sure about the Mk1.

Not all Fords are opened with a key.
