Tis still there, but you would really want to be on your uppers to fit the criteria and its only a pittance at the end of it all

Max of €250/month he'd want to get his s**t together pronto and forget about that grant making any difference to him. He's not prevented from factorying animals AFAIK, so that's one outlet he has. He needs to assess his feed stocks immeadiately and see what remedial measures he can take to stretch what he has. What type of stock does he have and how soon would he normally sell? Can any of his stock be gotten factory fit? I think you'd be far better going back to him with a few ideas to get him through this situation
than some pie-in-the-sky about hardship grants which will probably cost him more to comply with than he'll get from it.

I know dairy farmers can sell calves to approved feed lots so maybe he could talk to the Dept regarding other cattle

One mans meat, is another mans poison:). Anyway currently just back to normal herd status so couldnt buy them. feedlot status animals aren't allowed into certain international markets which is a bit of a ball ache at killing time

The hardship grant is not al lot but sure it's only a bit of form filling an you might as well get it if you can . But I do know that you can't have off farm income in order to qualify.
