Linehan wrote: "Hoping to do a special middle of next year."
The IT Crowd, which starred Chris O'Dowd, Richard Ayoade and Katherine Parkinson, originally ran from February 2006 to July 2010.
Lineham previously admitted that he had no plans to make a fifth series of the show, telling Reddit.com: "I'll say right off the bat... the bad news is no IT Crowd series five."
Not sure how I feel about this, an hour long special could be awesome, but ultimately pointless. Still, I'm more than happy for more IT Crowd.
