Did a quick search but couldn't find anything recent.

Was wondering the last day, with the broadband improved mostly nationwide, and all sports being available for streaming online if someone wanted to, why haven't Sky made an effort to make Sky Sports more accessible to customers?

Just checked and 34 euro a month for sports channels is ridiculous, why not offer a per sport/team subscription, or even the option to watch a match a la the Box Office craic they have?

There is too much money to be made from the current model. I don't think they could put individual matches on Box Office anyway as such a package wasn't made available by the Premier League

Personally I was hoping they'd allow subscriptions for individual sports because I have no interest in soccer, would want it for the Heineken Cup. Just saw somewhere the soccer TV rights prices are increasing so no doubt the sports channels will be even more expensive.

You can get a Sky Go monthly ticket so that you can only watch it online.

A lot of people that post on Satellite reckon the rise in Sky prices is to pay for the huge money paid to show the Premiership matches on Sky Sports.

Imo if I had decent broadband I would stream the matches.

Still ridiculously expensive IMO, and you'd need decent broadband no doubt.

I'd love a decent sports streaming service(legal of course:P) a la Netflix. Don't like how Sky have all the top sports and charge an arm and a leg for them.

totally agree Skys prices are absolute crazy, Sky was genuinely great value for money back in the analogue days and quite cutting edge, it was about £20 for movies and sports. back then skys movie channels showed films which were barely 8 months old and were often shown at same time as video library releases, before availability in shops. Now its over 80 euro and the sky movie channels are so bland showing endless repeats of movies that are mostly 18 months old+. I really feel subscription movie channels have long reached their sale by date.

Not legal but I would say most people know someone with the latest films on a hard drive.

Couldn't agree more. I gave up Sky Sports recently after subscribing for years as like you I have no interest in soccer and only availed of the sports package to watch Heineken Cup rugby. I would love the option of buying individual matches etc. They do it for boxing on occasions.

Exactly, technically it shouldn't be a great challenge and it would add on more customers watching sports if they priced it right.

sky go monthly ticket is the reason I get it for the heineken cup rugby as its cheaper than going to the games in person

I only got it because of the recent half price deal but I won't renew after because half the Liverpool matches aren't showing.

You don't have the Comedy channel then ? lol
Seriously though , anyone wanting to watch Sport should invest in a Dreambox or something similar.

How is a dreambox going to give access to Heineken Cup or Premiership?

Even them split costs would be fairly ridiculous when you only want to watch one sport, or even don't want the soccer which I'd imagine contributes the most to the high price.

No discussing theft of service here please, GoodisonPark consider yourself warned.

To answer the OP, Sky did offer a PPV football service, PremPlus, back in the mid-2000s. It was popular enough to last six seasons but the requirement for more than one broadcaster to hold live Premier League rights effectively killed it. I think most of its viewers were in commercial premises who took out Season Tickets - I'm not sure how many people actually paid for individual matches and really it paved the way for Setanta's (and later EPSN and BT) entry rather than any long term move towards pay-per-view matches.

I predict the prices for the sky go monthly ticket will stay the same in 2013

ftakeith can you stop trying to raise the Sky Go Monthly ticket issue in threads other than the Sky Go thread itself, otherwise you will be getting a ban too
