Gloss paint on concrete walls

Do any painters/decorators paint ordinary concrete/masonrywalls with gloss paint? Is it the done thing? I am sure I see it done on some commerical premises such as shops and pubs.

Do you mean plastered walls?

If so then normally not. However it can be done and can look really very well. It does throw up problems with preperation of the wall, but if you have the know how and time it is spectacular.

Some designers spec it as a feature wall instead of paper. Again this can come out special.

Thanks for the reply, and yes I mean a plastered wall. I half thinking of painting plint on external walls in gloss paint.

Has the plinth being painted before? Is it new plaster?

If you are doing a gloss on exterior make sure the paint is suitable. Most brands have exterior gloss and interior. Might be worth your while putting on an undercoat also.
