Checking accident report with Gardai

    Hi all,

I was in a car accident on Monday (rear ended and shoved into another car) and the guy that hit me rang the Gardai who never turned up. I wasn't thinking straight and should have rung them myself but is there any way I can check with the guards as to whether the call was actually made?

    Cheers

    Were there any injuries?

Did you get the details of the other drivers?

No injuries, just a stiff neck and a few headaches myself since. Details were exchanged and it's with the insurance companies now but I'm curious as to why the guards never turned up. They're usually pretty quick on that road from what I've seen in the past.

They were probably at something that required Garda attention.

Gardai don't investigate material damage road traffic collisions. They just take the report and it's left up to the insurance companies. As such they receive a much lower priority than other calls, ie burglaries, robberies, assaults etc.

So the insurance company don't start being dicks, I'd go into the station and report it. At least that way you're covered if the insurance company start asking if AGS were notified.
