Found this link over in digitalspy re the proposed DTT spectrum by the end of the decade.

One of the proposals is to pass channels from ch49 & above over to 4G & 5G mobile broadband. In view of the reduced number of frequencies available it's thought that DVB-T2 may become the international standard to accommodate future HD & SD channel launches on the tighter spectrum.

And even then there will NOT be enough spectrum for all channels in HD, 2K HD, full HD stereoscopic (today's fake 3D), future real 3D.

This is short sighted money grabbing greed by Governments and Civil servants. The existing spectrum blocks 800MHz to 2600MHz used for Mobile are not being used efficiently.

We will need more TV channels so that we can watch more repeats, and more reality programmes. They are still repeating 'Dallas' from forty years ago ffs.

    We watch too much television.

Just the existing channels may eventually need the current spectrum.

The "extra" Spectrum will not add a single new Mobile User or Broadband connection.

There has been no agreement regarding a 700MHz sell off. It may not happen. I hope it doesn't.
