Quick search didn't return a post on this, delete if there's already one.

Anyone know this guy (Billy Lavelle), cycling from Alaska to Argentina to raise funds for Trocaire. Just came across through a guy in work who is familiar with South America and was asked to provide some guidance. http://www.billysbigcycle.com/

I dunno, I have a difficulty with this sort of thing. I mean, what could be a more enjoyable thing to do than spend six months cycling from Alaska to Argentina......I'd love to do it. To turn around and say "I'm doing this for charity".....good for him but I just dont see the connection between what he is doing and a charity. Its basically a six month holiday he's on. I'm sure other people see it differently.

Yeah, I have a problem with people who raise funds to get to go on a trip to, say, Vietnam etc to raise funds for charity. However, cycling from Alaska to Argentina is an arduous and dangerous endeavour, more so now as he enters South America. As long as any money raised goes to the charity, I don't mind. Fair play to him, he has a tough stint ahead of him. FB

Happy Christmas to all on this Forum:D

The donate tab offers 2 ways to donate to Trocaire - generic, but associated with his trip & for use with rural communities in South America.

I don't see the problem. Fair play to him.
