New mouse

Hi, I'm not sure if this would be the right forum for getting a new mouse, but here goes :)

Well my cheapo-piece-o-crap mouse gave in after 6 months (cheap cabling snapped, I can still make the mouse work if I hold it in place so I know this is the problem). I can't get a new one on warranty becasue the shop closed down (not that I'd really bother anyway). This is the mouse I had http://www.altex.com/Manhattan-MH3-Classic-Optical-Desktop-Mouse-800-dpi-177016-P146991.aspx

I game a fair bit, mostly SC2. I play this quite fast, and so I need accurate rapid mouse movements. Becasue of the size (small) and probably the shape too of this mouse, coupled with the fact I have to do rapid, accurate movements of the mouse, my hand gets sore after playing, as I have to grasp the mouse very tightly for long periods to get the proper movements.

I'm looking for a good gaming mouse, comfortable to use and good at what it does - but cheap. I don't have a set budget, but I certainly don't want to spend over, say, 40 euro (is that reasonable?). Comfort and practicality is what I want, I don't want to damage my hand ^^

I don't truly need many features. In all honesty this mouse has served me fine, apart from the hand pain. Something that does the same with more comfort would be cool.

    Thanks.

logitech g400 is pretty much as good as they get. its got a great sensor, low budget, and no angle snap. I own its predecessor, the MX518, and if anything, its actually better, but hard to find and priced accordingly.

Brian is probably the one to talk to about mice if youre really interested, but he'll probably show you this: mouse guide pic that he posted the other day. its a handy guide, though i dont agree with their MX518 notes. it has its own fan club its so good!

    ;)

Thanks! That looks great. As usual, Hardwareversand crushes the competition in terms of prices. Shipping is 20 euro though :/ Hardwareversand has it for 30 euro, Komplett and Dabs for 39/40. Any other prices nearer to 30 with lower/no shipping costs?

You're not the only one that thought that guide was nonsense when it came to the MX518. I have two of them :D

The MX 518 is a great piece of kit , my suggestions would be go to a bricks and mortar store and have a feel for the mice before you buy one . I bought a Razer Diamondback Plasma a few years ago and sold it 5 days later for less then half the money i bought it for .

My mx518 is my oldest component. Have it about 6 years now, I did have to change the mouse feet recently but that's just a sign of how much use it's got. I can't see myself changing it until it finally dies, if it ever does :)

Got a Promotional email form logitech this morning, giving access to a VIP Benefit Store with discounts on some products. They were offering the G400 at €31.49 free delivery to Ireland, so check your email spam folder if your are interested.

Have an MS X3 but wouldn't really recommend her. Love it, but the wheel doesn't wear well.

only the added bodies are cod branded, I got the same deal on amazon cos it was like 20 pounds cheaper than the unbranded version.

I have the branded bodies in a drawer somewhere, I use the mouse in it's smallest form anyway so I was thrilled with the bargain.

actually I have some unbranded bodies from my last g9x around somewhere, if you want them and will ever be in carlow :)

Logitech are the only company I'll buy mice off any more. I bought one of those fancy RAT 7 mice the last time and it broke down within 2 months, sent it back, they lost it and told me to go **** myself. It was the second thing I'd bought off that company that broke down within months of purchase.

    ah no worries,
It doesn't bother me that much!

It's fairly rare I get to buy stuff from logitech, as lets face it, their stuff is quality and lasts, but it's limited to things like mice, keyboard and sound for me - no use for the other stuff yet. But, I must say they couldn't be better in quality and PR.

A few years ago at Gamecon, a Logitech rep was there with loads of goodies as prizes and eye candy. It happened to be my birthday a few days before hand and he gave me a load of goodies for free (ipod dock speakers, headphones, other small stuff)
