    can anybody tell me how many coins were there in the set of 'gold-plated irish predecimal coins' (have a look at the picture)

    yes, these were plated by them.

    I don't believe they publish the issue number of any of their coins or medals. As a commercial organisation bent on nothing but profit, they will produce the goods for whatever number of mugs punters apply.

    There is virtually an unlimited supply of those old coins out there so there's no reason for DMO to limit the supply. It's not like they're going to be worth anything in the long run so whether they produce 100 or 1,000,000 of each coin isn't going to affect the value at the end of the day.
