    Hey,

So I'm looking to get myself a work stand but any of the (cheaper!) ones I look at seem to come with a warning "Do not clamp around the frame tubes on carbon frames."

    e.g.
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/tacx-cycle-stand-workstand/
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/tacx-cycle-motion-workstand/

Are these flat out not suitable for working with carbon frames or is it just a different way you should attach them?? SHould I be looking for something else to work with a carbon frame?

Just looking for something sturdy to use at home for basic maintenance and bike cleaning.

How about one of these, clamping on the seatpost

I use the slightly more expensive version but I'm sure it does the same thing!

I don't think there is a workstand specifically for carbon frames. Just clamp the seatpost. If you must clamp the frame, don't overtighten the clamp.

This is the one I use. I clamp the seatpost. No problems.

    Sweet, thanks.

I wasn't sure if you had a carbon seat post (which I do) if that would be a problem too. I'll just go with that then. Sound lads! :-)

I find that the ground ticks this box. The bike can stand either upright or upside down! The ground is free or already paid for if it's a floor within your property.

This is also adequate and a hell of a lot cheaper than the ones you are looking at.

I have one as has half of the cycling population of the country I'd suspect.

That's not currently in stock as part of an offer though, is it?

Have a look here - seems to be good prices and good reviews

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Park-Tool-Mechanic-Repair-Stand/dp/B000OZFJTI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1355912845&sr=8-2

There are links to other stands - I was thinking about holding out for the Lidl one myself but I might try Amazon after Christmas
