Hi. I am looking at buying a wooden floor for my hall, living room and dining room. Price is of course a factor but I don't plan on changing it for a long time, so I want something really nice that will last. Can anyone recommend a good retailer? (I live in South Dublin). Thanks alot.

If you have some time to spare take a trip to Castleblaney just a little over an hour from Dublin and check out Eirwins they have the biggest and niciest range off flooring in the country, all in stock so you can take it with you there and then, they are a direct importer so good prices too.
You wont find a selection like it anywhere else in the country

be careful when you are buying flooring. we bought flooring years ago, sold as slight 2nds!! we bought enough to do the whole ground floor and when we looked thru the boxes of what we got home, we barely had enough to do the sitting room and even had to put some obviously marked boards under the couches etc bcoz we didn't have enough to finish.... very very costly mistake and i can't remember where it was exactly but it was near Monaghan.. we had signed to say we had been told there was roughly 5-10% wastage in every box but in fact it was more like 80-85% we couldn't use!! buyer beware!!

I have been using Breretons in Greystones for years - completely reliable.

Timber flooring is not a diy thing as you learned you get what you pay for in this world 2nds always means 2nds no matter what you buy

TileStyle in Ballymount, For Floors Dun Laoghaire and Brooks Thomas are a few of the flooring suppliers I use on a regular basis. They should be fitted properly too. Let me know if you need more info. Regards
