ok but why are they using two different size scoops i mean if it takes a month to go through a 5lb tub using the smaller scoop then it will be gone in 3 weeks using the bigger one and i would like to know if im not using the correct amount or too much, the stuff aint cheap

    1) look at tub for serving size
    2) get food scales
    3) use both scoops to put the amount on the scales
    4) use scoop that is closest to suggested serving size
    5) dispose of other scoop

ok i had checked the two tubs and they both said 30 grams per heaped scoop but when i looked at the nutritional info on both ,one is way different to the other in the amount of carbs and fat in a scoop so they must have changed things but there website still says what the old tub says and i dont have a scale that will measure that low because im not a drug dealer

Maybe you should start dealing drugs so you don't have to worry about going thru the tub in 3 weeks so :D

30g isn't really low. Any normal kitchen scales will go that low. You aren't looking for 1/10th of a gram accuracy or anything.

If thats really not an option. Just use the one in the packet. Maybe they changed the recipe and the powder settles differently now.

    Or.....

....The cynic in thinks that times might be hard for Nutrition X and profits are not where the number crunchers would like them to be, so to help sell more product, they provide a bigger scoop, exactly so you will get through it quicker ;)

Just a thought, but is there not a contact number/email addy for them on the side of the tub or on their web site? If yes, then ask the horse directly and get the reason for the bigger scoop straight from its mouth. It's got to be better than the mostly not very helpful, though humerous answers you have received already.

If the recipie has changed, then you will likely notice a difference in taste.

Where did you buy it from?

If the tub is the same size as before, but a lighter weight. That would agree with my less dense suggestion.

yea same size tub but was no more in it than before if anything a bit less if it wasnt as dense then the volume should be adleast a 1/3rd more ,and even so if it isnt as dense why is weight of the tub less

I checked their uk site and they are only selling 1.8kg tubs of Big Whey.

Looks like they forgot to update the irish website.

well thats their loss i wont be paying €45 for a 1.8kg,they better have a damn good reason when they email me back or il be going elsewhere ,thats a lot of €s at the end of a full year in fairness

Go to MyProtein or BulkPowders. Costs less and will last longer.

    Think about that again.
Why would the volume be higher. You are forgetting to account for the weight being down.

Same size tub or so, but 25% less in weight means its less dense. So you need a bigger scoop to achieve 30g. Theres now less serves per tub etc. Makes perfect sense tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 131 ✭✭czgalway

yea thats what i mean to achieve the same amount of servings the volume would have to be higher but its not,so im not getting what i used to per tub

weigh 5-10 scoops and divide accordingly.

50cc is 50ml and it will depend on the precise product.

However whey has a density of about 400g per litre and 450g tapped density per litre.

Hence why most 5lb tubs of whey are in a 6000ml tub or larger.

Therefore the 50ml scoop will if flat and level give around the 20-23g per scoop.

My whey currently has a 56cc scoop inside it and as one scoops up and to the side it is more on the tapped density scale plus the product is pure whey therefore it yields 25g per scoop pretty accurately.

Heaped scoop and 30g would definitely be the 50cc scoop.

Heaped can add easily 50% to the equation. This would give you 40-45g for the 70cc scoop.

sent two emails and no reply so sent one this morning saying i wasnt gonna buy off them anymore and low and behold got an email this evening saying sorry for the inconvenience but the price of whey has increased by 25%and that they reduced the weight of the tub instead of raising the price.but i still payed for the 2.25kg tub so its pretty sh1tty that they can just change this without telling the customer and expect it to be ok,if i go into dunnes for 2 litres of milk and pay for 2 litres and then for them to turn around and take a pint out of it when im goin out the door and say arry shure the price of milk went up by 25% .im pretty sure they wouldnt be in business very long,i certainly wont be buying from nutritionx again
