Hey, I am driving corsa 1.2L and I noticed my fuel gauge is totally screwed/off.
My car tank size is 45 litres (as far as I know)
When I fuel up a full tank (assumingly full as the fuel pump snaps and stops filling in no matter how many times I press it again) fuel gauge goes up to max, but then it ends up being at white line after red one (0.25/1) when I hit 200 miles of driving which is very low as far as I know, even my friends BMW X5 consumes less if I go by fuel gauge. So I decided to go ahead and don't fuel up when I hit red line. I drove on an arrow being at red for 4 days drove rougly 100 km) it stayed on red line and didn't even light up the warning.
Today on being red I drove from Dublin city center to celbridge and had no problem, yet again it didn't lit up. Then I decided to fuel up just because I saw Esso station at price of 1.57 a litre, so I fueled up the max it let me. I ended up fueling 35 litres it didn't let me fuel more. So I assume I had 10 litres left in car when I drove there.

Fuel gauge went up again, when I drove 5 km it dropped to third line 0.75/1 mark.

So I think it's really messed up. Should I just go and reset mileage meter every full fuel up and then count how much I drove assuming 10 km is around 1 litre of fuel?

    Hi,

i too have a 1.2 corsa which had ( has ) a faulty gauge. How many miles would you expect to get out a full tank?

My fuel gauge used to show half a tank on full then drop, just had to guess how many miles i had done and a bit of luck reach my destination.

The tank is a 46 litre tank by the way so you had more, 11 litres left.

my fuel gauge was a loose connected the the fuel gauge, the wires are under the rear passenger seat, if you lift that up you will see the fuel gauge wire, make sure it connected securly, i put tape on my to make sure it doesn't come loose again.

Seller said it's about 400-450 miles from tank.
I will have a look, my passenger seat is being moved all the time.

Just brim the tank a few times and reset your tip meter.
I had a diahatsu with a dodgy fuel gauge, but i always knew if the tip meter had about 350 miles, I would need diesel soon, I could probably have got to 400-430, but I wasn't wasting anything by always leaving 10-15 litres in the tank.
