Syncing iPhone on PC disconnects it from Xbox extender

I use my PC to host files to Windows Media Centre on my XBox. On thing I've noticed which only happens recently is that if I place my iPhone in my USB cradle to sync it, the XBox media centre disconnects with an error. Any idea why this might be happening? P.
