You can check the news on the following link, where you can see the place where the fatal accident took place:
    http://www.elcorreo.com/vizcaya/20121216/deportes/mas-deporte/muere-inaki-lejarreta-excampeon-201212161055.html

Iñaki was Spain MTB champion on 2007 and second on 2011, and last Sunday he was training on his road bike along a very busy road at a point where its speed limit is 50 Km/h, at about 10.00 AM on a bright and cool autumn day, when a car read-ended him while riding on the very ample hard shoulder. It is unknown at the moment the circumstances around the accident, but according to the car damage it may look like the car was driving quite faster than 50 Km/h (as the biker would have been moving at 30 Km/h or so at the time of the accident). The car driver was coming back home after working all night as a Spanish Red Cross volunteer.

A very sad news, a great loss for the MTB and cycling worlds, and a horror time for his family, including his pregnant girlfriend, who is expecting Iñaki's child for next January.

    R.I.P. / D.E.P.
