Given the tragedy in Newtown, did anyone here see Michael Moore's documentary abount gun culture in the US? It's quite an eye-opener

OP, I'm sure the whole world has seen that film by now. why should we care about it today? if anything it would feel inappropriate to watch it with what has happened in Newtown. Like somebody else said, it didn't make a difference to gun laws.

I liked Michael Moores documentaries until I discovered how they were edited. Footage from different events is spliced together or bits of interviews are edited out.

He doesn't even need to do this to make his point. Some things (guns and George Bush) are bad enough without having to try to make them appear worse.

For instance when he got the free gun from the bank. Opponents of his will point out that he would have had to wait thirty days to get the gun and would need a gun licence, but he told the bank that he wanted to be filmed being handed the gun. This is true. He could have just told the truth because a bank giving away a free gun is still a terrible idea without having to make it look worse.

Yeah - he just turns people against his cause by doing stuff like that.
I found it really distasteful the way he went after
Charlton Heston - he may have been an NRA spokesman but he was sick at the time with Alzheimers

I just don't understand why people need to have semi automatic or automatic weapons outside of a war situation...

Does anyone know the name of the female student that Moore interviews by the pool shortly after she dons a bikini top?

Except he didn't know Heston was ill. The NRA shouldn't have had Heston as a spokesman given he was ill in the manner he was. They hid his illness.
I think to take Moore at face value misses a key point. You aren't meant to it is about questioning what you are told including what he tells you.

I like Charlton Heston as an actor, but I don't agree with his politics

Micheal Moore just goes for shock value. Fúck'im. Who does he think he is just walking into people's houses?

he used footage of charlton heston at a gun event, saying from my cold dead hands, with audio from another gun event of him saying from my cold dead hands. it wasn't wrong.

Then why did he feel the need to edit two different events into the one sequence?

And his portrayal of the NRA convention in Denver shortly afterwards was also wrong.

Yeh but lately he has started a few kinda unusual threads.

Here is a typical Branie thread: "Title: Adele. So, does anyone else enjoy the vocal stylings of this critically acclaimed and highly talented, famous London-based female singer?"

He's growing on me though. :pac:

I think in 3.37 mins, Charlie Brooker gets to the real thruth in these things:

Personally I'm not anti gun and enjoy shooting now and then but for god sake, you dont need an AR with 30 round Mags.

I have time for Mr.Moore but it is an old flik OP, where you been?
