Piano teacher (South Dublin), learn specific songs?

    Hi guys,

Apologise for the slightly cryptic thread title! :D

I'm looking to get some piano lessons, and thought maybe ye could point me in the right direction. I've been 'teaching' myself piano for the last few years, and I'm at a decent enough level considering I've had no lessons! But I still struggle with particularly tricky songs, or I play a more basic version of songs (e.g. just playing the root instead of a bass line, playing single notes instead of chords or harmonies for the melody), and it would take me days to work through a score.

Anywho, what I'm looking for is a teacher who I could tell in advance what songs I'm interested in learning, and maybe I could get the sheet music too, and then we could work through the song together. We could tackle particular techniques as we encounter them in the songs.

To be more specific, I'm a big Alan Menken/Disney fan, and would love to be able to play piano like he does! But his stuff is pretty tricky for a beginner (to the play the proper way, that is).

Does anyone know of a teacher that this might work for? And how much would it cost?

    Thanks!

BTW, I've been playing guitar about 10 years too. So I'm not completely musically retarded or anything! I know basic theory, etc.

Getting lessons is always a good thing.

Unfortunately, as per the Charter, you can't request them on this forum.

Post a request in the adverts.ie Services Requested section.

I have to close the thread.
