Anonymous hacks Westbro Baptist Church for pro-gunman protests at Sandy Hook funerals

I don't even know what to do with this (as evidenced the links below), so I'm throwing it out there. I've been trying to work out how exactly to deal with this whole thing...it seems to have touched a nerve, and you would hope that the indiscriminate slaughter of children might somehow force a change in some way to try to ensure that this kind of thing will some day be a thing of the past, even if it doesn't happen in our lifetime. But just when you think that something like Sandy Hook will hopefully bring out the best in people...who turns up but the Westboro Baptist Church, brandishing their own particular brand of evil, claiming that this is God's work and planning protests at the funerals of the dead children because somehow, to them, this whole thing is not only good, but to be encouraged!

    http://www.humanevents.com/2012/12/15/westboro-cult-plans-on-protesting-sandy-hook-funerals/

But it doesn't end there...the next thing that happens, Anonymous not only hack Westboro (who claim they can't be hacked because they are protected by God), but do it live on air, during a radio broadcast, on the phone to a member of the WBC!

    http://www.inquisitr.com/440545/anonymous-hacks-the-westboro-baptist-church-posts-all-their-personal-information/

So my head is beginning to fry. You have this unspeakable act of evil...followed by more evil (WBC)...followed by a now-infamous (or famous, depending on your POV) vigilante group who are trying to do good by unmasking the anonymity of the individuals who plan to attend these funerals (and going by the WBC's usual modus operandi, will shove their own children into the limelight wearing t-shirts that promote their beliefs, such as when they pushed out their kids wearing those 'God hates fags' t-shirts), despite the fact that the unmasking of these people will probably just bring down more hatred, more threats, probably violent reprisals...

    My head is melted.

People should just organise a protest to protest the protesters and keep them away from the grieving families.

They will be kept hundreds of yards away as they are at military funerals. But the image is still shocking. This is America though. Rights to be an asshole, rights to carry guns, rights to invade other countries.

They should be shot. They're despicable, disgusting people and a waste of oxygen.

Whether you agree with anonymous or not they are doing one thing and that is bringing these nutjobs out in the open for all to see.
Im crossing my fingers that this will lead to similar human wall blockades at funerals to disrupt these disgusting acts that were performed by texas a&m students at the funeral of a soldier earlier this year

    Didn't this happen before?

I remember something about a local community linking arms to block them from picketing a funeral

Is it wrong that the thought crossed my mind that...well, it's a pity that Adam Lanza didn't burst into the Westboro Babtist Church on his rampage instead of the school?

Yes but only because it would give they're insane ideas more publicity and garner sympathy for them

There is always a counter protest to the WBC. It isn't new. The Patriot Guard is a group of motorcyclists who came together to specifically oppose the WBC.

Pardon my bluntness but are you American? Do you presently live in the United States? Are you raising a family or planning to raise a family here? If the answer is no to these questions, then my perspective would be to mourn the loss of the children.

I was born and reared in the US and have spent most of my life here. I've lived on secure military installations, on the border of an Indian reservation, in a small urban community with rival Latino and Black gangs dominating certain neighborhoods, and a large city in a working class neighborhood. I have heard gunshots. I have relatives and friends who own guns. I had classmates shot by them. And I still feel safe walking in the city.

As for the WBC, they are sick individuals but they are also protected by our Constitution and they have a right to protest, if they choose. I know that there will be counter protest and I would even use my vacation time this week to fly out there and stand as a human shield.

It did, and it seems like the best solution to drown out the noise coming from those trolling morons.

That's one of the things I can never understand when I hear of incidents like this. If you want to go bananas and kill a heap of people why not at least make some attempt to kill some people who may have done some actual wrong or harm and not innocent children? I know if I lost it I'd take myself off to Leinster House, a Fianna Fáil ard fheis or somewhere like that.

    I share Morgan Freeman's perspective:

    http://www.examiner.com/article/morgan-freeman-on-adam-lanza

    Morgan Freeman:

"You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here's why.

It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single victim of Columbine? Disturbed
people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody."

Please read my entire post instead of replying to just the first few sentences. I'm talking about all of the events involving the WBC and Anonymous, not just what happened at Sandy Hook.

F*ckin hell ... fair play to them, but the idea that such a group is even needed is so wrong. :(

WTF is wrong with people. So many of the members of WBC have kids themselves like. How can the parents be so warped? And of course it's a cycle that will continue, as the kids become indoctrinated.

There are some really messed up people in this world.

I agree that we shouldn't need a group like this, but I think it is rather awesome that there are a group of individuals who will volunteer their time just to shield the families like they do.

They'll do it for the publicity they'll get.

Hopefully they get no where near any of the funerals.

I think the last time something like this happened, a local radio station gave them an hour or two of station time to rant their ravings. They seemed to back down from their protest and accepted the radio station's offer.

    Let me use my google-fu.

    Here we go:

They have the right to freedom of speech and can be only contained but not stopped from protesting. They are a vile bunch, and to be quite frank should be wiped from existence. It's one thing to protest with their nonsensical bull**** but to actually do it at the funerals or even contemplate it of those poor children and their families makes me sick.
