Do people have more fun quoting Father Ted than actually watching it?

I'm another person guilty of dropping a good Father Ted quote when the opportunity arises, but I dare say that in my own experience, the quoter's delivery of the line may be better than the original delivery in the actual show. When I watch Father Ted now it's not quite as funny as I remember it, but that may be because it's been out for centuries?

If you ever say that again, I'll put your head through the wall.

That would be an ecumenical matter.

Down with that sort of thing.

(but no, I think it's impossible not to enjoy watching an episode. Too often I'm about to go to bed and discover that Fr Ted is on telly and I'm unable to tear myself away from it, resulting in less sleep than I should have had.)

I actually agree I find it a bit cringy now when I watch it

As long as you don't watch it all the time it holds through to it's purpose. I wouldn't watch Fr Ted for a year, but i'd see an episode and I'd watch it and it would still make me laugh. Just like I can watch an episode of the Simpsons from the 90's and still enjoy it, despite watching the same episodes loads of times. Hell sometimes I even get the jokes I didn't get before.

I have a playlist on my PC on my third screen. It's content:

    American dad
    Family guy
    South Park
    Red dwarf
    Father ted

I have seen each episode at least 10 times. I just cannot not get bored of it. Classic show.
