Below is a list of Initiation(joining) fees for some courses in or around New York this year.

And we were thinking that we were talking big with little 20k pittances?

    Course Est. Initiation Fee 2012

    1. Sebonack Golf Club $1,000,000
    2. The Bridge $850,000
    3. Liberty National Golf Club $500,000
    4. East Hampton Golf Club $400,000
    5. Trump National: Bedminster $350,000
    6. Hamilton Farm Golf Club $300,000
    7. Friar's Head Golf Club $250,000
    8. Hudson National Golf Club $210,000
    9. Atlantic Golf Club $200,000
    10. Trump National: Westchester $200,000
    11. Bayonne Golf Club $150,000

With staggering initiation fees and wait lists a mile long, these clubs show no sign of slowing down. It’s somewhat insane to the average person to think that these prices are somewhat common and actually fairly good deals considering. Would you pay these prices? Do you think it’s worth it?

Unfortunately many of these aren't great golf courses. Friar's Head is a cracker though - recommended to anyone should they get the opportunity.

If you have six, seven figures lying around you might want to join them only to avoid bumping into "less fortunate".. think of member competitions - you do want to be paired with someone who will get your "fifth avenue" humour and "wall-street" cultural references...

I've played liberty, hudson and Bayonne and if I had it I'd pay it for them, stunning courses!

Holy f#ck. I now know what jaw dropping means. Funny how the guy says it could be out of Scotland or Ireland. Nothing i played looks like that. Not to mention that flag.
