Poonsawat Tests Positive for HIV

    most of you will remember him as the lad who battered Bernard Dunne.

    Anyway tested positive for HIV in a pre-fight medical exam.

    Boxing career is essentially over.

    I was really angry when I found out the fight was off but that was immediately replaced with sadness upon hearing why is was called off. I hope he can manage his disease as best as he can.

    He was very gracious in his victory over Dunne. I've always admired him for that.

    Apparently this was a misdiagnosis. He has a blood disorder known as thalassemia and not HIV.

    What a mistake to make.Dont they test first and then if positive do a more indepth test.Seems like they shot from the hip here.

    Doubt it was a misdiagnosis i'd imagine when they discovered his thalassemia,they ended his career but people put 2 and 2 together and came up with hiv when they heard his career had been ended on medical grounds.
