Can they be used with a saorview and how much do they boost the signal.

    Thanks

Of course they can be used with Saorview. Most boost the signal by more than is actually necessary to overcome splitting & cable losses.

If you're already struggling for signal with the aerial feeding 1 tv point only (no splits), you'd be better off with a masthead type, installed near the aerial.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
I have a masthead fitted and i am getting perfect bbc, UTV etc at the first tv in my sitting room where the power supply is situated. The signal is then split from the power supply, one feed to the tv and the other feed to my attic which in turn is fed to other rooms from the attic using a passive splitter. The TV in the bedroom gets good utv and other channels but I am getting break up on the bbc channels. This is why I was wondering if fitting a distribution amp in the attic would give me just enough amplifification.

Not a great idea to add extra amplification in a small distribution setup - http://www.megalithia.com/elect/boostercasc/index.html

Might be a better idea to insert a power-pass passive splitter between the masthead amp and power supply (in the attic for example) and distribute everything from there including the main TV - http://www.tvtrade.ie/tv-distribution/tv-splitters/power-passing-tv-splitters.html

There's nothing wrong with trying a distribution amplifier in place of the passive splitter you have in the present setup.

Rerouting the aerial feed direct to the attic, rather than via the main tv, would remove unnecessary signal losses in the extra cabling needed as currently configured (presumably, this is routed externally from aerial to sitting room), but don't be put off trying a 2nd amplifier.

Not everyone wants to go climbing ladders, or paying someone else to do so, when a trip to the attic might do the job.
