wondering if I could get a bit of advice.....maybe this should be in travel/holiday forum but thought I might get better responses here

seen a deal for the spanish grand prix which was initially tempting

220 euro for tickets and standard twin double room for three nights

105 euro (ouch!) supplement if staying on own (which I might end up doing)

so thats 325 before paying for flights etc

what do ye think? is it good value/worthwhile?...tickets give access to al the standing areas.....

I have no idea if that represents good value so I'm wondering if anyone could tell me if I would be nearly as well off getting a package for somewhere like spa/silverstone etc or even booking everything individually for a grand prix

Sounds like a good deal on the face of it and a least it gets you going for small money, and Spain is very close if it goes pear shaped.
So take a chance and book it.

Personally I like spa and I would liken it to the Phoenix park races sort of .....

Barcelona is full of cheap (if dingey) hotels so check Hotels.com and booking.com for hotel prices and add the price of the GP general admission ticket. I'd imagine it'll be cheaper as you won't be paying the agencies markup.

    Public roads

    Hundreds of acres

Multiple vantage points away from the stands

    Great atmosphere

Much different to a purpose built circuit

I`ve been to the Circuit de Catalunya for the 2010 MotoGP race, but if you had a choice to go to any track in Europe to see a F1 race, go to Spa or Monza. Don`t get me wrong, Barcelona is a fantastic venue and I would see it would be a great grand prix track, but Spa and Monza are truly magical. There are no other tracks in the world to match the vantage points and atmosphere that those two tracks can offer.

But if you are going to Barcelona, just be careful which hotel you book!
