Ok, I've got an old Toyota Landcruiser that I'm restoring and need moved from it's current workshop in Longford to a paintshop in Cork.

So far I've been getting quotes of ~450 euro to do the move, which I think is way too much considering you can ship a pallet accross the country for 35 quid.

Anyone got contact details of a haulage company I should try?

    thanks

Hire a Van and tralier for the day and tow it yourself maybe? Should think €200 would cover that?

I though of renting a trailer etc. but really don't fancy the trip with a ~2 tonne load behind me.

    Open to other suggestions?

Have you tried the likes of CarTrans?

Guy I know had a 4x4 brought over from the UK to Cork for around €150.

If its running then the likes of Crosbie Transcar, NVD or GreenTiger will do it. Need to have space for the truck to turn around at both places.

450 seems a bit strong but comparison with a pallet is like comparing an elephant to a mouse lol. Shop around and you may get a local to do it for less than 3. It is a days work and fuel is quite expensive.;)

As ROR says, it's a lot easier if the 4x4 is running. Also depends if you are flexible on collection and delivery dates (ie when they have a truck going your way).

You could try McNamara Logistics in Roscommon, I'd expect they would do it for 200-250.

If it's a non-runner then fewer options (hard to load it onto a 9-car transporter) but there are one or two around that will bring non-runners, eg advertising to bring out of England. There is another guy on the Creggs side of Roscommon that does that.
