suspected timber tongue

    just after checkin the stock there and noticed a cow with a very swollen jaw! thinking timber tongue myself so i put her in the head gate and gave her 30 alymicin 20 primadoxine and 7cc flunixin anti inflamitory(end of the bottle) to cover her til mornin and if no improvement we'l get vet. she seems in ok form full gut wet nose full eye albeit lookin a little misserable, prob sore anyone any other advice or should i not wait til mornin to get vet?? thanks in advance!!

    does she have a temperature. is she drooling? did you look at her tongue? sirry bout the questions

    no drooling, tongue as far as i could see and feel is normal and as for the temperature i need a kick in d hole:o have been meanin to get a termometer but has'nt happened..Thanks for the reply whelan apreciate it!!

    I dont believe you are farming without a thermometer.

    Don't rule out a prod or puck. Not all lumps are as they seem.

    Best thing for timber tongue would be noroclav or similar, prob about 50 for a big cow.
    Have you tried manipulating it , movin it from side to side, can she chew her cud.
    Make sure it's not a broken jaw , unfortunately if it is you are stuck wit her. No factorying her after the drugs.
    Lost one 2 months ago with a broken jaw, but hasn't drugged her before vet seen and got her to the factory so not a total loss.

    streptomycin is the treatment for timber tongue, how is the cow this morning, is she up to date dosing wise also is she long in calf, some drugs can not be used in pregnant animals
