Will he ever return to the PDC pro tour again to grace our television screens on the oche once again. Definately one of the most entertaining players Ive ever seen and it seems like some humour from darts has been missing since he lost form.

Heres a video of Mardle playing in April which proves he can still throw some good darts and if he can find those doubles again who knows.................http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTJy0uXwDM0

Who reckons he will make a return?

Justin Pipe is a painfully slow thrower!

Seems he is planning on makeing a comeback at some point but i dont know what caused him to lose his passion for the game so quickly

He was taking the easy option of the exhibition circuit and started to drop down the rankings. Manley did the same.
Hope he makes a comeback as he still has a lot to offer and it’s a waste of talent

Hopefully he is back. The game has lacked a true character since both him and manley dropped off. Mardle I agree still has a lot to offer and is still relatively young but the longer he leaves it, the harder it will be to get back so this comeback should come sooner rather than later. As for Manley, his career is over and we have seen the last of him. He doesnt even hold a tour card anymore and has entered next years q school already. Age, form nd health are not on his side though. Chris Mason is another one attempting a comeback. I wonder how he will get on and will he get through this years Q School.

Is it fair to say he is now been seen as the person to fill the void left by Sid Waddell (or at least attempt it).

Yes was entertaining as a player but he's done well so far as a commentator/analyst so far. If he's not playing it's good t see him in those roles

Hope he comes back, when he is good he is awesome, he was unbelievable the year he bet Taylor in the world quarter finals. He should have won the worlds that year, maybe complacency set in against Shepard

D'ont think he will be back, a good commentator though.

I'd say even at his best he would be an also-ran in the PDC these days. A few years ago the next best players to Taylor were the likes of Mardle, Colin Llyod, Ronnie Baxter and Peter Manley. The standard has gone up a level since then.

I wouldn't even have him with Lloyd or Manley. He never won a major. He was not a top 5 player at all, he was once ranked 5th while Lloyd and Manley of course both reached no. 1, he was never at the races in the PL finishing last twice, he spent his whole career hitting the 5 instead of the 20. Nice guy and great character though but would be surprised if he made a comeback.

Have Manley or Lloyd or Manley ever beaten Taylor in the worlds??? Seem to recall Manley getting whitewashed in a world final by him. Mardle was a player the power feared at times because he knew that if Mardle brought his A Game he could beat him, and did in 2007/2008. Know Mardle never got to the final, but beating Taylor at his best is nearly as good

defo, i loved watching wayne play, 5 wc semis is still a lot better than most players, on form he was a heavy scorer and gave phil a few scares at the wc. i remember that game , qf wc in 08 when came from 3-0 down to beat the power, couldnt' believe it when he lost to shepherd , his best chance of a wc imo. i hope he comes back but he has improved in his commentary in that he doesnt shout or get excited as he used to ,

Best treble 5 hitter I've ever seen.

No, Manley lost 3 world finals to Taylor, 2 whitewashes and a 6-2. Not sure Taylor and Lloyd ever met in the Worlds, but Lloyd won a couple of majors and was world no 1 for almost 2 years.

Darts needs all the characters it can get, as does any sport that wants to market itself on television. It adds that extra dimension and depth to the action and gives the viewer something to connect or engage with as a person. Philosophising aside, Mardle was a great character of the last ten years and he was even better when his father was shown in the crowd cheering his son on and who sometimes looked like he was even more into the action than Wayne himself.

At some point Mardle will or will have asked himself if he's worth more to himself, the PDC and SKY as a dart player or as a colour man. I'd like to see him have another crack at PDC competition but if he's comfortable to do what he's doing then that's understandable because he may try for a year to do the comeback and then maybe find there's no commentary position to come back to if he's unsuccessful.

Mardle said on telly earlier this year that he doesnt want to do the circuit anymore and he is happy doing what he is doing now.

Mardle won't be back now. He's happy enough with his job with Sky. Taylor was never afraid of him either. The only player that Taylor was "afraid" of before Barney was John Part, who beat him quite a few times within the time he won the World Championship. Mardle was a crowd favourite and a good player but nothing more really.

Can Mardle really blow darts from his mouth and actually hit the dart board? Has anyone been to an exhibition and seen him do it?

Mardle and John Gwynne are the 2 best commentators at the moment IMO,be a shame if Mardle went back on tour.

Means nothing really. It's said that the top players can hit multiple nine darters in practice. Different thing being on stage.

Not sure whether it's been linked above, but Mardle has tweeted that he finds the tour events "soulless".

great character agreed and not a bad player but I'm sure he knows through his commentary stints that the game has moved up a notch or 2 since he stopped playing.

I think he is clever enough to know he can't compete anymore.
Great to have him as a commentator though, sid badly missed but mardle is entertaining in his own way..
