    thanks

If it's the multitronic box check it has had the fluid changed at 40k. If it hasn't check it out very carefully and knock the price of a change - £100 or so - off the price. A new 'box costs thousands.

If it's the 2.0 TDI then I think those engines have known issues too.

    Nice car though!!

Number 1 problem with these engines is the oil pump drive which can fail resulting in a major bill.

I have posted previously about the issue, some info here:

65k miles is very low for an almost 6 year old diesel car, it would want to have a fully verified service history to prove it.

It's not that low being more than 100k km at this stage. Clearly the service history needs a good looking at as with any car but a 2006 Audi diesel with 100k km wouldn't exactly set alarm bells ringing for me tbh.

Its just under 11k miles per year which imo is low for a diesel car of it's age. My own car is two years younger with 70k miles and I consider that to be below average also.

German car interiors are well able to hide high miles so are very strong candidates for clocking. Of course there are exceptions to every rule hence verifying the service history.

That's fair enough, when I read it as 11k miles per year it is quite low indeed. I was thinking in KM.

I know a couple of owners who had massive trouble with the multitronic boxes, and software controlling them failing. Also that 2.0 140 bhp engine in Passats and Golfs and Octavia's appears to have faulty injectors. A car like that needs a strong warranty- as others have said the miles are very low for diesel of that age- remember in 2007 that the first owner would have paid a significant premium to get a diesel A6 so you'd be expecting they would be driving higher mileage

Just to clarify, the only 140bhp engine that had the unreliable Siemens piezo injectors was the in the Passats (usually BKP engine code). The A3/A4/A6 and Golf/Jetta/Octavia 140bhp units had the Bosch solenoid type injectors that gave no trouble. All of the 170bhp engines had the Siemens injectors however.

In any case the injector issue was/is the subject of a recall so won't cost the owner any money to get sorted.

Had a 2006 2.0 TDI for 4 years and the only issue was from dirty cheap diesel that clogged the fuel lines and filter. Low mileage also with the odd run up north kept her free from issues people bang on about all the time.
Great car and the only issue you might have is that you will fancy a C7 :)

    Typical main dealer exagerated price.

Here is a 2008 model for less money and has the added benefit of lower motor tax:

The PD engined ones have yes. The later common rail engines have Bosch injectors.

Ah if I had 7/8 grand lying around (and they'd take a trade in) that could have been my next car :( Love that color and for once it doesn't have the tan interior, and it has the D reg :p

    Oh well..

Bit of a catch 22 that one.

Sure dealers don't want extra stock lying around, but then there's the fact that the days of cheap credit or cash to upgrade are gone too.

Given that most people I'm sure prefer to trade in rather than try to sell privately (with all the hassle and timewasters that comes with that), and that a dealer would probably shift it to the rest of the trade easy enough(??) it seems a shortsighted move to me.

Thanks for the details!! Very useful indeed. What is the story with the Seat 2.0 140bhp's do you know?
