Conflict between builder and engineer

Long story short my builder is in conflict with my engineer over the pouring of a retaining wall. They both want to do it differently even tho they have both agreed to the design.

There are exoansion joints in the wall and the engineer wants them to only pour one section and then come back later to do the next etc. ( the wall is 30 meteres long)
3 sections to pour. So what I was thinking was pour the two end sections first then come back and do the middle section.

Builder now has me worried that he will walk away over the conflict( not the first conflict, engineer seems to take ages to get back to him)

I don't want either of them to hold my build to ransom so to speak. So do I fire both of them and get some one else ?

Based in standard form of contract the builder must take the instruction of the clients representitive therefore i dont see why he would not. Get the two of them to calm down and talk and it should be an easily resolved issue

The engineer will sign off/certify - the builder cannot.

You go with the eng or employ a second consultant eng for opinion.

kkelliher is correct. The only way is to get the 2 together and let them sort it out between them and have yourself present if possible and make it clear that a decision needs to be reached or you will get someone else to do it.
