    Hi all,

I will be making some christmas cookies and mince pies to bring home with me to ireland from Denmark. I bought some lovely christmassy biscuit tins to put them in and I thought I could just bring them in my check-in suitcase, but my husband thinks this will cause issues, as they won't be able to see through the tins if they xray the luggage?

Anyone got any experience with bringing tins of stuff like this in your luggage? Is it allowed? Did they open your luggage?
I know this is probably a silly post but I have been looking foward to bringing these things over :(

    Thanks

Moved from Christmas -- might have more info in this forum regarding Airport Security procedures.

People check in bags with tea caddies, cans of hair spray and shaving foam all the time so you're not going to be the first person to check in a bag containing a tin container.

Even if they do pick it up, the worst that can happen is that they'll ask you to open the bag and show them what's inside. So make the batch 20% bigger and give the security guys a mince pie and a cookie each and they'll happily wave you on.

An airport X-ray machine can penetrate anything aside from say... lead. If X-ray machines couldn't see through a sweet tin type container then I'd suggest terrorists would have been having a field day the last few years don't you think ?
