Emetophobia- Fear of vomiting?

So, I have an extremely bad fear of vomiting.

Not too long ago I found out that it was called Emetophobia and is actually extremely common (Well common enough that there is a name on it and 29 million search results on google:p)

I rarely get sick and that's the funny part. The last time I vomited was 2011 and before that it was at least 5 years since i last got sick.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has the same fear, and if so, how did you deal with it?

I suspect my mother has this, or at least very close to it.
She's no problem with others being sick, but if she's going to vomit herself, she gets worked up.
She's terrified of choking. She'll get really stressed and nearly hyperventilate and panic (she may not even have heaved yet). Usually one of us is around, I've taken the 'parent no-nonsense' approach with her. Tell her to stop it, to calm down, try getting her to breathe a bit more normally and just be around if she needs me. She doesn't always listen, but she's always fine.

I think the thing is to try your very best to keep your breathing normal, to try an keep a bit calmer if possible. Your body does most of the work with getting sick so if you can relax as much as possible it should make the process a bit easier.
(probably easy for me to say as I don't have a fear of vomiting). I have however been sick a lot, with a sometimes over sensitive stomach. I've had times where I was vomiting every 15-30mins for more than a day at a time.

Yes, I'm the very same. I don't mind others getting sick but if I think i'll be sick i start shaking, hyperventilating and crying.

Usually all I need is someone to keep talking to me and change the subject and eventually I calm down.

It's probably hard to always have someone there to talk you round, though if you're around semi-strangers you could always [try] explain that you get worked up and could they just talk you calm again.
For when you're on your own, you could try and pick something to put in your mind, could be a memory of somewhere you've been where you felt calm / safe and try and focus on that, reminding yourself you'll be ok. Might stop things getting uncontrollable perhaps?
