    I think there is an EU law that says you have 2 years for a repair/replacement of fault good regardless of what the warranty says.
    Cannot find a link to the leglislation.
    Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance.

    This has been discussed ad nauseum and you will find more info by using the search functions both here and in the Consumer Issues forum. In short there was a directive requiring all member states to allow warranty claims within a two year period. As Ireland allows six there was no need to implement that particular portion of the directive. Also there appears to be some misconception that there should be a blanket two year warranty - that's just impossible realistically - it would require that the paper hats you get in Xmas crackers last two years, when clearly they're designed to last a couple of days.

    The legislation you want is;

    The Statute of Limitations Act 1957

    The Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980

    S.I. No. 11/2003 — European Communities (Certain Aspects of the Sale of Consumer Goods and Associated Guarantees) Regulations 2003 which gives legal effect to Directive 1999/44/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 May 1999

    EDIT: Note this is assuming you are a consumer dealing with a business and not some sort of other contractual relationship.
