Anyone know if this is open Saturday? I'm not sure of its exact name, it is the place where missed parcels usually end up, in the industrial estate annex near the NCT centre.

Not really a mail centre anymore, remember it was only in operation a year or two and they closed it because the new super duper system installed in cork was not getting enough mail (over speced) at the time and kept breaking down, so it was decided to transfer all waterford mail to cork for sorting to keep the machinery functioning.

So now at the end of the day all mail is brought to the mail centre in waterford and then transfered to cork for sorting only to be brought back the next morning for delivery, and you wonder why the country is fubar

Spot on Bards. An Post Management must be the worst in europe. Personally I wouldn`t let them manage a lemonade stand.

Anyway apologies to the original poster

Yes The Mail ctr is open this Sat from 8a.m. to 5:30p.m. they àctually don`t open to the public normally on Saturdays anymore but because of the volumes of items at this time of year they will be open for the next 2 Saturdays. Hope that helps.

That place cost about 5 million to build and as mentioned by Bards was rendered wildly overspecced when they shifted the actual sorting to Cork.

Same thing in Kilkenny. Recieve letters here constantly with Portlaoise stamp on them....posted in KK but sent 30 miles up the road and back again!
And they wonder why they are broke ;)
