Jeremy Kyle, Fair City, Love Hate

How can people watch these brain deadening, thought supressing, society lowering, amateur-level produced, anti-social, audio-visual diahorretic programmes? How are they appealing to anyone bar the stereotypes of the characters and guests themselves? Comparing television to restaurants, they are the McDonalds of TV. Actually, Jeremy Kyle is McDonalds, due to its international flavour, Fair City is on par with Supermacs, and Love / Hate is like the chipper van on the corner outside a disco. Lowest quality crap you can get.

    Love/Hate's brilliant.
I don't care what you say.

Jeremy Kyle gets his guests from the dole queue. I watch it because I hate people that are on the dole and so I sit at home and shout at the tv.

You just can't take it seriously! I understand that people have hard lives and problems to deal with but why on earth would you ever take it to Jeremy Kyle?! It is abit of a joke..

If you were just talking about Jeremy Kyle Id agree with you. However love/hate is a brilliant show and fair city is a bit of a laugh because its so bad.

I see where this is going, Death camps for Fair City fans.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,191 ✭✭✭✭Latchy

There seems to be an endless queue of people wanting to be humiliated by Jeremy Kyle on national tv but you could say the same about Gerry Springer or that other American (bald headed guy Steve ) programme

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,117 ✭✭✭Rasheed

Nobody's sticking up for Fair City so I will. It's mighty entertainment, the acting is comedy gold (without meaning to). The stories aren't half bad either.

I love it and don't care who knows!

The only good thing about Fair City is Vivienne Connolly.

How can you not love stuff like this? If you're having a bad day. If you have no money, or life is being horrible to you, just stick on Jeremy Kyle and suddenly life isn't so bad. I could be as ugly and as stupid as this guy, but I am not.

Take out Love/Hate from that list (even though I don't watch it, everybody is raving about it) and replace with Tallafornia

Those people would probably say the same thing about reading/ posting on After Hours

Newmug is just trolling everyone knows JK and Fair City is rubbish. But everyone (nearly) likes Love/Hate.

Besides Love/Hate is more true to life than the other two. Fair City bears no resemblence to Dublin than Manchester does to Eastenders.

They certainly script it in a certain way but afaik the people they use are genuine. They probably take bits of truth in a story and then expand and sensationalise it. The participants are willing to go along with it and are being compensated to the tune of a couple of hundred quid I'd imagine.

Oh god- if I hear another person make this exact same statement again I will scream.

Are you actually so shallow that you will judge someone, their life and how they live it, based on the fact that they watch a particular tv programme (probably one of the most minuscule and trivial details in their life). Are you really going to show how narrow minded you are by assuming that someone who is highly intelligent cannot also enjoy kicking back and relaxing while laughing at people on Jeremy Kyle. Do you honestly think that every single thing a person exposes themselves to, must ALWAYS be extremely intellectually stimulating......how exhausting !!!

Any by the way. Telling people that you don't watch reality TV, does not make you, yourself, sound more intelligent. It just shows how utterly boring you are and how little you have to say for yourself about anything that you actually do find interesting.

I agree with Jeremy kyle and fair city being rubbish, to name but a few. The acting is crap.

However, Love/Hate is one of the best shows on the box at the moment IMO. Great acting for the most part. Its about time I got some sort of value for money for my TV license fee.

Wrong wrong wrong! Its your job to seek out God, and look after the wellbeing of your own soul. A good place to start is to join the Catholic Church, and build from there. It just so happens that in this country, Catholicism is the main religion anyway, so you have a head-start!

Now take Jesus. He was all those things and more. He was the original passive hippy, yet probably one of the most conservative people who ever lived. He flew in the face of the establishment at the time, often causing crowds to gather just to hear his speeches. He said things like "do unto others as you would like them to do unto you" and "turn the other cheek", yet he gave out strict rules and laws to follow if you wanted to get into Heaven, and only God could help you if you broke them!

Sound to the poor, the sick, the old, humble to the point of allowing himself to be executed to change people's view on things. Even if you dont believe the supernatural bit, you cant deny that Jesus was one incredible man. The more I look into his life, the deeper my faith gets, and the more I believe. You should do the same.

Love/Hate is class, in my opinion the most ridiculous far fetched programme on RTE is on one of a Sunday morning at 11.15, and they still get a live audience and viewers tune in every week. Makes back to the future look believable by comparison.

So I suppose its different strokes for different folks.

It makes you feel better because you know that your life will never be as bad or as sad as the people you are watching. It gets rid of the winter blues.

It makes you feel better about your own life. You know you are nothing like the sad, bad, mad people you are watching!
    It beats the winter blues.

Love/Hate has to be one of the worst programmes on the television. The acting is pathetic, so bad in fact its on par with Fair City & could possibly be worse. It has the potential to be a brilliant programme, the storylines are relatively good but the acting is nothing short of disgraceful. The acting takes from the programme & just makes it completely unbearable.

Do you expect the likes of Daniel Day Lewis in all Irish made tv shows

FC and L/H are two great shows especially Love/Hate and look at their viewing figures many others must like as well
